feeling good about things for a change

I wanted to post some of the good things that are happening in my life regarding my A son or should I really say sons. Yes, my son that is in the military and lives in Japan with his family has issues with alcohol too.

I really wanted to post something so I could show off my new grandson born in Japan on 8/10 which is the new pic of my avatar. LOL

My oldest A son who has just gotten his 3rd dwi has been faithfully attending AA meetings...sometimes 2 a day...woo-hoo! He has been very lucky to find some new meetings this time with a lot of recovery going on with a lot of oldtimers. Guys have been picking him up and taking him to meetings since he totaled his car. He loves these people. The meetings he attended prior to this dwi were mostly filled with people getting papers signed that were court ordered to attend. Believe me, he was one of those people before too but he said that the people in the meetings that these guys have been taking him to are with people that really want recovery and live recovery every single day. He wants what they have and I pray he gets it. One of the miracles that has happened for him is one of the members in the fellowship who has 20 years in is a lawyer and has offered to take his case for a minimal feel. Other members told my son that he is good. He told my son what he would normally charge for a case like his but that when he saw someone that was really trying to get their life together and really wanted to turn things around he wanted to give back some of what he has received. I am so touched and so grateful that these people have come into his life.

He told me about a dream he had the other night that he felt like God was talking to him. He used to live at the beach when he was much younger and all of his friends were having a reunion at a bar they frequented. Everyone was getting a beer from the bartender so they could all toast the fact that they were all together. When the toast began my son realized he did not get a beer. He said "Hey, bartender...I don't have a beer:. The bartender turned to him and said in a quiet voice "I'm sorry...the keg has run out but don't worry you will be ok". He could not believe it when he woke up and remembered that dream. It gave me chills!

I waited to tell my younger son about his brother until after his baby was born awhile. I didn't want him to worry and I knew he would. Worrying about everything is a trait I sadly passed down to my kids. Oh well, I have gotten much better with it and am hoping they will too. My younger son surprised me by telling me that he recently downloaded AA stuff to his ipod. I could hardly contain myself. I think my boys are finally getting it and guess what.....

I HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!!

Today is a good day. I am leaving work in about 1 1/2 hours to go to my beach house in Bethany Beach with my best friend for a 3 day weekend. We are both so excited to spend this time together. Last week I took my A son down and we relaxed, went to AA meetings, talked a lot and I know he did a lot of thinking. This weekend will be way more eventful....I guarantee it!

Love to you all,
