cehhrosis diet *sp?

Has anyone out there had to have a cehhrosis diet or knew someone that has?

I've got the basics down, no salt so that means probably no meat. fruits and veggies high in vitamins.

I've also been looking into herbs that can help with jaundice, "trailing eclipta' , Milk Thistle. I also read probiotics will be good as well.

confuse hmmm, anyone have any tips?

I myself have not heard of such a thing.  Stick around, perhaps someone out there has some experience to share on this topic.

Kandi here is a site for you that sounded good. Cirrhosis is the spelling. It's when your liver is being destroyed from working too hard because of hepititis or other liver disease and or from alcohol. Alcohol is horrible on the body.

The liver is damaged then it scares trying to heal. But sadly the scaring does not do the job a healthy liver does.

With jaundice that is pretty serious. Means liver disease. the liver is not working much anymore.

No animal meat,no animal fat. Low to no salt. Low to no sugar. Protein from plant sources.

avacado, olive oil, nuts for good fat.

Yes milk thistle can help a lot. My friend had hepatitis and used it. BUT ask the doctor! She went on interfuron bless her heart and lived. so she is clear now of hep c!

I am sad for whoever is suffering. Please come back! love, debilyn

I hope you will come often and share more!

I had several health issues that doctors couldn't seem to help.  I was told to go on the candida diet and that I had a candida overgrowth.  The diet is impossible to maintain. My business was suffering and I was concerned for my health.

I got tired of all the conflicting information and being sick all the time.

I ended up making an appt with a naturopath dr and believe I have found a fantastic one.  It was a good sum of money and I really didn't want to spend the money, but I finally did.

I have been symptom free of all the things that were ailing me for six weeks now.....since the day after I walked out of the wellness clinic.  I am not on a candida diet at all and have very little to maintain.

I would highly recommend a naturopath.   They do not bandage the problem but heal from the inside out.  If anyone can tell you what to do they can.

Yes, over the years I have prescribed diets for people with compromised liver function.

I would suggest that there are many websites that provide solid information---hepatitis.about.com, and, webmd.com  are good for starters.

There is no magic bullet.  Just the basics.  Most important of all is to remove the offending agent if possible--Alcohol is a deal breaker!!!

From clinical experience, the liver has monumental healing powers if given half a chance.  But, one has to follow the basic rules.  You can't trick the liver---It knows (LOL).

Please be encourages---I have seen incredible sick people get back to stabilization by following the basic rules to the "T".  Again, I warn, there is no one magical herb or ingredient that will effect a "cure" without honoring the basic phisiology of the liver (I mean the basics).

In support, Otie

I used to be the Hepatitis Educator at the AIDS and Hepatitis council here.
I am not sure how much professional help I am allowed to give as I am aware of the Traditions not allowing professional 'stuff' or soemthing

I coudl give you links etc if you like to look up about liver and Chirrosis. I agree with what people have already said here though

http://www.hepedu.org.au/factsheets/pdf/HepC_eatwell.pdf

I know he probably doesn't have Hep, but the liver disease is the same no matter the cause.

Can I say also... yes.. alcohol is a killer. If there is no alcohol, or drugs, the liver has a chance of recovery

I hope I have not overstepped the mark putting on my professional hat

If your Dad is still in the hospital, there should be a dietician available there to help with the dietary questions. Also, if your Dad will allow, speak to his doctor. The web sites will offer a wealth of general information, but those working directly with your Dad will know him and his needs best. As has also been said here, no alcohol or drug use/abuse. If someone with cirrhosis continues with those behaviors, diet and supplements etc. are a mute point. Best of luck to you. Peace

I would definitely get a doctors order for education on a cirrhosis diet-they can give you more specifics and the reasons why.
