Today's reading brings to light how we, in Al-Anon, learn to take each new experience with an open mind.
"We dont see the world as it is." "We see the world as we are." It is with those of us who keep that open
mind that we are able to cope better with the changes our lives present so that we remain "flexible" and
able to adjust so that we experience less anxiety. When we keep an open mind we do not "limit" the
possibilities because we cannot always rely on drawing from past experiences when our lives are constantly
changing.
Todays reminder: "As I grow, I continue to learn and to unlearn, replacing old ideas with new ones and
reclaiming others that had been cast aside." "Today I welcome this flow of information that will nourish and
replenish me as I become more fully myself."
Todays Quote: "To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is
strength undefeatable." ~ Helen Keller
There is no doubt that I have experienced this first hand and completely understand that when I am thrown
those "curve balls" that past experiences are not always helpful. That is why learning to keep an open mind
is so important to me. Disappointment is something I still experience from time to time and although it is
short lived, keeping flexible about outcomes is so important to my well being.
Have you all found that flexibility concerning dealing with lifes changes is a work in progress?

Thanks Debbie for your service and ESH. For many years I was shut down to new things and/or changes. My FOO had been so unpredictable that I tried to keep control of what I could, which was very little, especially as a child. But fast forward to the present and my experience with alanon, to be closed and shut down is no longer desirable. If I can keep an open mind and learn to listen, I can have many new and wonderful things available to me. And I always remember, I can take what I like and leave the rest! :)

Good morning
While I don't really consider it having an open mind when it comes to the curve balls, I am learning to be more flexible.
They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It's when I choose to do things in a different way that I don't feel so insane,so actually I guess by applying the Alanon principles and turning to and trusting my HP that is having an open mind, isn't it?
IDK. But what I do know is that when I am thrown a curve ball, whether it's something good or bad and I don't do the same old things life is much better. I recently was presented with a crisis and instead of the way I usually react I chose to do some art and then went somewhere with a friend and had a good time. The crisis was still happening but since there was nothing I could do about it anyway I chose to do something for myself.
So yeah,it's definitely a work in progress when dealing with lifes changes.
Have a good day!

Good Morning Everyone. Thank you Debbie for your service/ESH. As always, the shares aid in returning me to sanity. Keeping an open mind means I must set aside judgements and stay open to miracles from unexpected sources. When the going gets rough, I vigilantly use program tools and principles. However, in good times I become complacent, paying less attention to messages my HP sends through other people...until the next fiasco. lol Thanks for the emphasis on flexibility and reminder it's an ongoing process. Wishing my American friends a blessed Memorial Day Weekend. Have a peaceful weekend MIP. ((HUGS))
