Monday's reading speaks of discovering ourselves, as in the real person we are. Looking within can open our eyes to seeing what needs improving. We can be afraid we won't like what we see, and we may have doubts that we can change. However we may also find a surprise--many good qualities under layers of guilt. Part of the reminder says: If I could only foresee what an inspiring experience it is to search out the real me, I would not hesitate. The first step, after all, is to be completely honest in our search.

Of course this reading reminded me of step 4, taking a fearless and moral inventory of ourselves. And yes that was a scary endeavor to me the first time round. My sponsor saw the good in me that I could not. She was used to looking for assets and it came easy to her. It was painstaking for me! Oh, but how I could list my deficits. But over time, I began to see the balance within myself--of course I have shortcomings that need work, but the second time I did the steps was not scary at all. In fact, I asked my sponsor if we could work through them again. It felt like a good challenge that I could face head on. There was no fear involved. I know the steps are a growth producing experience, all for good.

Thank you Lyne for todays reading, your service and to you and Daffodils for sharing.
Betty helped me worked the Step 4 and her gentle input was so helpful, in the process
it became evident to me that my difficulties dealing with life in general was caused by
my constant fear of being hurt by the alcoholic in my life. So grateful for the wisdom
