The writer says that when living with the chaos in an alcoholic family, it can be hard to know the difference between an inconvenience and a major crisis. The slogan, How Important Is It?, helps us put things in proportion. If plans fall through, an unexpected bill arrives, or we are disappointed in someone's response, this slogan can help us interpret that what might have been seen as a disaster, is really insignificant. Tragic days can be changed into days with serenity and confidence.

Putting things in proportion was very difficult for me until program set in. Many events were seen as huge catastrophes. I spent many wasted days stuck in turmoil and despair. My coping skills were poor when it came to my personal life. Insecurity, fear, and lack of self-esteem all contributed to a downhill cycle. And now I have, How important is it, in my tool box and honestly, this slogan really helps me. I can weigh things out and decide what is really unimportant. What a great gift!

Thank you Lyne for your service and today's reading. Your ESH is always appropriate and appreciated.
I have learned, in Al-Anon, that projecting and worrying about what will be are two attributes that only
spell anxiety! One day at at time and letting go have helped be to be able to calmly look at what is
in front of me to determine if all my worry is warranted, and most times it is not!! Grateful member!
