Today's writer is preparing for change, tremendous change, when working Step 6. There can be great fear about if shedding too many characteristics; what will be left? The unknown can be terrifying, yet change is desired. HP is there for guidance, and yet in Step 6, one does not have to change anything. It's merely preparing for change and taking all the time you need to get ready. If you are uncomfortable with old behavior, then you are already moving towards change.

I always liked how Step 6 eased me into readiness to move forward. And heck I'd already done a searching and fearless inventory of myself--I think I found Step 4 more terrifying than Step 6. I can recall wondering if my sponsor would still want to work with me once she knew all the negative things about me. And yet she kept reminding me of good things. I was the one focused on the bad. And then we ask our HP to take these away, and eventually make amends to those we've harmed. I really am in awe of the 12 Steps and the power they have in helping me to change, grow, and essentially begin recovery. I know I say it all the time but it's really true: grateful always for this program.

Thank you so much Lyne for your service, today's reading and your lovely ESH.
I too love the fact that Al-Anon creates an environment for change that can be so life changing in an
unregimented way for each individual as they need and grow. Grateful member as well!!!
