In today's reading the author shares that Al-Anon is a spiritual program but that it is based on no religion and that no religious belief is required. However no particular religion is required. we might understand the higher power as God, good orderly direction, Allah, the universe or something else. The author suggests that until we come to believe in a power greater than ourselves the 12 steps won't make much sense.
Today's reminder: I may be seeking a more loving God in whom I can place my trust, or facing a challenge that puts my long established beliefs to a test, or struggling with the very idea of a higher power. Whatever I believe, I can pray for greater Faith today. Just that little act of willingness can work miracles.
Today's quote: " when I have at last realized that my problems are too big to solve by myself.. I need not be alone with them if I am willing to accept the help from a higher power." Al-Anons 12 steps and 12 traditions
_--------
I'm sure I'm not alone in my experience with religion. I grew up in a church and then found less support from that particular Church when certain life situations occurred. For me this month that I no longer felt welcome and safe at church. What I really appreciate about Al-Anon is that it focuses on the spiritual nature of the program. It does not require me to believe in any certain religion or any specific dogma. One of the things that helped me the most with Alanon was that I am left to make sense of my spirituality myself. And once I have made sense of that spirituality for myself other Al-anon members do not debate my understanding and they don't tell me that I'm wrong or not living in accordance with the spirituality of the program.

Thank you Skorpi for your service, today's reading and ESH.
There is no doubt that my connection to my HP has become so much more stronger
since I joined Al-Anon and that connection/faith keeps me, for the most part, on an
even keel!!

Thanks Skorpi for your service and all above ESH. I have an HP of my understanding and I was fortunate to find it way before alanon. I sometimes feel that alanon itself is also an HP for me. This program, the fellowship, steps, slogans, lit, etc., help shape me as a person and enhance my life. Program is a force greater than myself and I am ever so grateful.

Hi everyone on MIP today, I love sharing about my HP. I have so very much to thank Al-Anon for, but especially, helping me find the Higher Power that I have today. The one before, I always thought that He was testing me to see if He could like my Family break my will, and my spirit. I hung onto to Him in Fear, because my life was so bad as a young child dealing with what I had to.
Yes, I went the Church way as well, but thankfully, I had found Al-Anon by that stage. I stayed at Church for awhile, but all I could see was a lot of things I didn't like, so I left. The HP that I have today, is my Friend, my Partner, one who I know loves me, no matter what. He helps me walk this path of life. I know longer fear Him but holds my had when I get scared.
Today here is Friday, so I hope that all have a lovely weekend what ever they are going to do.
