This writer takes a look at justifying our own behavior, as though being provoked gives us no choice. We might pretend our wrongs don't count, but step 4 breaks through our denial. With our fearless and moral inventory, we list what is wrong and right about our own conduct. This takes courage and self-discipline, but we can make positive changes.
Reminder: I am a human being with strengths and weaknesses, capable of achievements and mistakes. Because I accept this, I can look closely at myself. Today I will find something to appreciate and something to improve.

These days I often take my own inventory, without doing step 4. In a way it's become 2nd nature, and I find I can see what I need to improve, and I also give myself credit for the good I do. I've gotten much better control over how I speak to my A, but the problem I recognize is that I still have judgements and disappointments going on in my head. So I plan to stay in touch with this bad habit of mine, and see if I can make some progress.

{{Lyne}} Thank you for your service and honest ESH.
I am still working on those "judgements and disappointments" as well. I realize that I must replace
them with something more productive and good and then they will take up much less room in my head!!!

Thank you Lyne for your service/ESH. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole with judgements, disappointments and resentments. I like the idea of mini 4th's. It will help on days like today when everything seems to get on my nerves. ( lol )
