Today's page considers the work of steps 8 & 9 as we list those we have harmed...and reminds not to forget to include ourselves.
We cannot, nor should not focus our efforts on saving or changing others. In Alanon we learn to turn our focus and efforts toward restoring the damage within ourselves. This leaves us in the best possible place for living and to be of service to others when we are able.
Reminder: 'To give advice to others is to intrude; to give advice to myself is to grow.' - RW Emerson ------------------ In my constant overreaching and interfering with others I fancied that I was helping, a gadfly stinging with truth. Instead, I was nurturing my own misery, disrupting the natural path of recovery for others and assuming the role of their higher power.
I was an unhappy mess, in no shape to be cajoling others; I still am not now, nor will be ever. I am, however, better able to sail my own ship thanks to the guidance of Alanon. Helping myself has been the best help I can give to myself and ultimately, others...grateful for the wisdom and reminders

Thanks Paul for your service and very wise ESH. I am able to focus on myself much of the time, and strive to become my best self for me. On the weekend I told my son and dtr in law how they had harmed me. My son responded with love. With my A, I have made amends to her for the manner and times I have not been kind nor compassionate. This program has helped me with so many things I never expected. Grateful member always.

I so appreciate both you Paul and Lyne for both your very wise ESH this morning, thank you to you both!
I so agree from a personal stand point that the Al-Anon program/MIP and my HP have helped me to stand
back and examine my motives and perspective and in so doing have been able to "ultimately help myself"
and hopefully others find their better selves. {{HUGS}} to the MIP family today!
