12/14/21 ODAT – Powerlessness, Restoration: No Limits…

Today's page considers types of loss, including the contributor's paralyzing loss of someone close. Lessons learned: Our powerlessness does not make exceptions for us, nor does the power of restoration promised us through a power greater than ourselves...we can overcome anything.
Reminder: Nothing will remove all pain and loss from our lives. By continuing to work our spiritual recovery program we can successfully navigate, and even grow during such challenging times.
"The foundation I have developed in Alanon not only makes me grateful when things are going well, but also makes me realize that the program works especially when things go badly." - In All Our Affairs ------------------------- In my recovery journey, I have found that the only limitations on my Serenity, Peace and recovery are those I put there or fail to lift...they are not dependent upon the actions or influence of others.
From the suggested Alanon closing:
"If you try to keep an open mind, you will find help. You will come to realize there is no situation too difficult to be bettered and no unhappiness too great to be lessened"
'You will...You will...'
So grateful for the wisdom and reminders of Alanon

Paul thank you for your service and today's reading, as well as for your wonderful ESH!
It has become apparent to me, especially over the past year that, for me, seeing the good in my
personal trials comes much more quickly and more easily. Feeling that gratefulness for the best in
life is so important in order to learn, appreciate and move on! Keeping an open mind and connection
to my HP has been such an important Al-Anon lesson for me. Grateful member indeed!

Thanks Paul for your service and for both above ESHs. Last November I had to put a beloved dog down after 15 yrs. The loss was so profound, and I was not myself for months. But eventually, the fog lifted, and I still miss her, but I did finally, eventually, recover. That line from our closing is so importantif I am willing, I can get all the help I need from all that alanon provides. Its a fantastic program. Always a grateful member.
