Words can become familiar and routine to us rather than significant and meaningful, even the Serenity Prayer, one of the most powerful Alanon tools.
This writer suggests giving attention and thought to the words as we say them to increase our understanding and ability recognize the difference and release the unlimited freedom to change the things we can.
Reminder - ...change the things I can, my attitudes actions...not other people.
"In every problem, great and small, the Serenity Prayer will work for me if I keep aware of its meaning every time I say it." ------------------------ The Serenity Prayer was the first spiritual concept I considered when I found Alanon, and the first that I considered personally for many years. During the long period of time it took me to develop and trust in my higher power, this served as my mantra and go-to tool.
After years saying it during meeting openings, I noticed myself repeating it, not feeling it...moving ahead to other thoughts. This page is a great reminder for me to practice my program with deliberation and focus...the benefits are limitless
Grateful for the wisdom and reminders of the program

Thank you Paul for your service, today's reading and your ESH.
I totally understand and agree that sometimes repeating and not really absorbing the words of the Serenity Prayer and other prayers
as well, only to move on, is something I find myself doing as well.
Thank you for the reminder to slow down and pay closer attention to the wisdom!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day today!!

Thank you Paul for your service/ ESH and DM2021. I will be mindful and apply your suggestions.
Repeating the Serenity Prayer has stopped me in my tracks when I'm on the verge of conduct unbecoming. It shifts my perspective and keeps me in my hula hoop. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks Paul for your service and for all above ESH. The Serenity Prayer speaks to me every time I say it. It covers just about everything. And now after a number of years in program, when Im stressed the prayer pops into my head. I no longer have to remember to say itit comes to me.

I focus and remind myself who I am speaking with and what I am saying and asking for when I am saying the serenity Pray. For me it is a face to face personal conversation with God, The father of all things myself and others and then grant me...asking to be shown and led which very very often is what I am doing...asking to be led, placed where I am needed and within HP's will. My simple asking is "place me where you want me...tell me what to do" and then I listen and become willing.

Thanks Paul for the example.
