Hi mip family. I've been diagnosed with a case of dengue fever this week. A comparatively mild but nonetheless very unpleasant strain which is finally beginning to ease this afternoon. It's left me easily fatigued and generally weak and tired. The family have been living on takeout and canned beans, canned soup and toast for a few days. I'm grateful that the headache has stopped and the joints and muscles are no longer aching, it was really yuck. My children have copped a fair bit of grumpy mother as a result the poor darlings and I am very disappointed that I am not mother Theresa. They in their youth are alot closer to sainthood and I am forgiven easily. Undoubtedly there will be therapy in their future and I only hope that my own wounding doesn't wound them irreparably. I'm working on it and isn't there always work to be done on the inside. Current frustrations include my 6 year old frequently wetting herself, which is triggering me beyond reason. It's silly of me. I had the same issue and was treated abusively harshly. Being I'll it became apparent that my darlings are very dependent on me to direct them in the mornings. I felt very frustrated by feeling like i couldn't even have dengue fever in peace lol lol lol. They ended up going to school with no shoes one morning which really disappointed me. The ridiculous thing is, we live in the islands and shoes aren't requisite and get taken off outside anyway. Seriously who cares? But I did.
So overall I have more work to do on myself as a mother and a parent. We managed to go shopping today and I'm going to put an actual meal on in my handy dandy slow cooker before cleaning and organising the house which has that yucky stagnant due to illness feeling about it.

I understand dengue fever is pretty uncomfortable, so I think that if I were you I would be grumpy too!!
Glad to hear you are on the mend and don't you worry, you are not alone in the "having more work to do
on myself" department.

(((a4l))) - glad that you are on the mend. There is nothing worse than feeling sick and have the little ones 'need/want' us. When mine were small, my AH traveled 90% of the time and it was all good unless/until I got sick. It felt so overwhelming and I always felt less than. I love how resilient kids are - they really, really do bounce back, and there's nothing to forgive when you're just being a human being.

I'm sorry for your being sick, I relate so well, I have 4 kids who have been my best teachers in life,
and like you, when mommy is sick the house is all down. I can't affort not to function even for 1 day or it's all a real disaster.
My youngest boy is 6 and he is very dependent of me too, he has ADD...
It's nice to find another mom to relate to
Take care of you, we're only human, we can't be there for them forever,
it's by seeing our limits that they can gradually learn to rely on other people or on themselves,
they open themselves to the world and learn to trust and let go (says my son't therapist).

Dear A41. I have heard about dengue fever. I.am sorry you have had to.endure that. My mother once sent me to.school with odd shoes on. I was a constant target at school
I can imagine it is very hard to be sick when you have people depend upon you
This week I am going to get some rest. I am looking forward to it. I was sick when I was s chold and my consultant doctor says that rest is do crucial

Thank you everyone for the love. I appreciate each and every one of you. Feeling much better though I tire easily which is apparently normal and likely to endure for a while. I'm taking it as easy as I can and am grateful I have resources and support including this board. Xx
