BACKGROUND: As happens more times than not, I return from my condo and re-enter my home with my A. The dog goes back and forth with me which adds fuel to the fire. I prepare myself on Saturdays using my program tools to enter the marital situation in neutral, and sometimes hopeful that we can have peace, and if lucky a smile or two and a laugh. My A is unable to move past and accept this situation, that largely is due to her persistent alcoholic behavior. I made the decision to buy my own place and live near my son half the week.
I came in yesterday afternoon, saw the face, heard the unhappy words, and again reminded myself there is no bread at the hardware store. I wrote to my sponsor last evening and in thinking through my situation, I was able to decide I needed a mantra for Sunday, today: ACCEPTANCE, DETACHMENT, PRACTICE. That should do it, dont you think so?

Lyne,
I want to say I am so sorry you are having a difficult time today! You are most certainly not alone
By your all caps I can tell this is a very trying time, but you got this!!
Let Go and Let God always comes to mind when I'm feeling like you are right now!
We have learned we did not cause, nor cure or control this disease and this is the classic times that
we are reminded of that. You are doing great! I picture myself sometimes, walking with these bags
of issues and mentally drop them where I am as I walk away. It does help. {{HUGS}}

Lyne - perfect mantra for a Sunday! Heck, it's perfect for all day, every day! When I used to walk in my home not certain what would be facing me, my go to mantra often was Bless Them, Change Me. If they were rude, mean, loud, etc., I would actually repeat this over and over and over in my head and it did seem to help me stay neutral or positive vs. joining them in the low end of the pool.
Keep doing what you're doing - it looks awesome on you! (((Hugs)))

Good mantra, Lyne.
At one time, I used Post-It notes with my mantra in areas that would remind me... like in my car. I was able to look at it and "gird my loins" before entering my home in which I wasn't sure what would greet me (or not).
You are taking care of you. Kudos!
Wishing you today!
