Today's Reminder: "Just for today I will live through this day only, and not tackle all my problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt I had to keep it up for a lifetime."
"I will slow my pace. If I am under pressure and setting myself deadlines and worrying about tomorrow, I will stop for a few minutes and think - of just this one day and what I can do with it." - Just for Today
Today's writer pulled gems from above to remind of the benefit of one day at a time: the focus remains on what we can do today, not become overwhelmed or dejected by adding tasks or goals that simply cannot be completed in a day. ------------------- Once again, AlAnon helps me see that when I feel disturbed, it is most often how I choose to perceive and approach the facts and details of my circumstances, not the circumstances themselves...
Grateful for the wisdom and guidance of the program

Hi Paul, thank you for todays reading and your service!
Living "One Day At A Time" is living mindfully for me. Of course, sometimes it is necessary to
be mindful of what I do today can affect the future or maybe make amends for the past, but
living in an overwhelmed state is so uncomfortable and clouds ones thinking. Meditation has
taught me so much about how to empty my thoughts and start from scratch, takes some
practice but once you attain that level of peace, you can cue into it anytime. Kind of got
off track here, but living through this one day reminds me of mediation.

Thanks Paul for todays reading and all above shares. I cant get enough practice in yet on living ODAT. Its just a perfect way to simplify life, and at times it takes all my energy and focus to not let my mind drift to yesterday or tomorrow. Program has many great tools to offer that help me have a more balanced and peaceful way to live. Always grateful.

Happy Tuesday MIP - thank you Paul for your service and the daily. Thank you all for your ESH and shares. Life is just so much better when I can keep my mind and heart planted over my feet, in the present, one day at a time. I'm grateful for the tools we learn in recovery and know that my sanity & serenity are best served when I'm using them.
Love and light all - One Day at a Time, we will thrive!! (((Hugs)))

Thanks for all the shares.
Yesterday I made a conscious decision to just focus on the day I was in,not about anything from the past or any future worries. I actually had a really good day. AH and I talked, joked, laughed and had fun. It felt really good, it's been awhile.
It showed me that I can make that decision every day if I choose to. It doesn't mean I will be able to do as well as yesterday but there's always that possibility if I at least try.
I had so many things I 'should" have been doing instead of goofing around with him . Some deadlines coming up soon, things that need done here in the house, etc.but I let all that worry go and enjoyed myself.
Tomorrow may suck, heck, even 30 minutes from now could but I really need to practice staying in the here and now more often. I think it's time to re-read "the power of now" by Eckhart Tolle to help me get into the groove. Once upon a time I did pretty well with it but lost the ability along the way somewhere.

Paul, and y'all...
I used to be a chronic worrier. I didn't know I was doing it, let alone why.
Now, at long last I can reflect on why this is, for me. I can cover the reasons in my own thread.
My friend has a road side fruit stall a few km away. He got bogged down, so I went and picked a few crates of apricots for him.
This filled in my morning. I can rest for a while. I have a backyard tree of greengages, which i can pick later.
Being semi-retired is a great asset- and a great deal after years of hard work. I think better now,
I have a better set of priorities.
Adding value to the priceless gift of serenity.
...thanks...

Mahalo Family for all the input and reminders of all the good stuff I learned after keeping my seat and listening to the fellowship with an open mind. The Just For Today pamphlet is a reminder of one of the important lessons and practices for me in recovery. I use to talk to myself alot when the insanity raged but all of the talk was meritless because nothing I was thinking and saying had any value until I learned to repeat the good stuff that came from the literature and from the fellowship wisdoms. The pamplet is one of the most important that I repeat from sunrise to sunset. It is great guidance. Keep coming back (((hugs)))
