My growing years were fraught. If anything was said:- it seemed to be said through clinched teeth. Moves were like that too- Clint Eastwood spittoon out the end of a cheroot...
...but most movies and books had happy endings- or were meant to.
My nearest group- is having a Sunday get together towards the end of this month. I don't attend regular- essentially because MIP Alanon is my home group.
I am no longer doing the early or middle steps. Doing extra meetings during lock-down has taught me- that I am no longer a newcomer!
I have a therapist. I used to be very cynical- about how many people in the USA seem to have a therapist. Not so common in other countries.
My therapist is a physio. A breathing coach. A specialist in trauma. Stored trauma.
I am going once a month. I do a lot of the work myself.
I like the "life coach" model of therapy.
Where we get to set goals ourselves. Hopes and dreams.
E., my therapist, practises 60 mins away from here. On the way back I picked up a load of wet alfalfa that had been dumped in the side of the road. Great for digging into my garden. I we say in this neck of the woods- "killing two birds with one stone".
Busy, busy busy at the moment. All my life I have needed peers.
Equals in growth and development.
I am now a part of a network of peers... we are feeding off of each other- all seeking solutions...
and being here- is a part of this... ...
Thanks for your time- thanks for reading me... ...
input, back-up and responses most welcome here... ...
love y'all... ah truly does... ...

Thank you David. I got a book about being my best self which is a life coach book that I need to get into as it is very slow starting but I think its going to be a pretty good book on how to be my best self. I was watching the Dr. Phil show when he recommended it to a lady who went through similar abuse that I did. Right now I am practicing slowing down and paying attention and doing it in pieces because it is so deep seeded I have to break this rock up in pieces
First is to practiced breathing and to be quiet. Something very hard for me to do but practice practice practice is what I shall do and then when I get the breathing pretty routine I will do some thing that I do routinely and practiced doing it slowly and savoring what I am doing even if it is not that pleasant of a chore just get into it and be with it and feel it
