it has taken me TWO weeks to fix up the former roommate messed up..had to take SAND paper and clean my stove burner metal thingys to clean them back up.....Lord have mercy!!!! I repaired the 2 beds she collapsed..tested them and they are A-ok...a little handy girl work on my part and I am finally tidied up and good to go, but OH so tired..She really wore me out with the drama and chaos
THEN , my male cousin is in hospital..may be dying..his heart is giving out and he cannot breath...his sister, my female cousin said that today was a bit better but I am just giving him over to HP...thy will not mine be done
So yea, i've been pretty occupied of late....so how have I been taking care of my body--mind--spirit???
body: eating clean, avoiding refined sugars and making sure my foods are "keeping it simple" no processed stuff...got 2 chickens on sale for less then $7 and I cut each in half because its only me and I cooked one in my cooker with some rice......exercising regularly on my home gym equipment...TRYING to improve my sleep patterns that are a disaster..i think with GAD and PTSD this is going to be an issue, but lately?? its been horrid...as I get used to living by myself, maybe this will get better
mind: watching good docus and nature stuff, setting limits on how much news I want to watch as I want to stay in positive frame of mind....chatting up with recovery mates to keep up with program...reading my recovery stuff, books, literature, online stuff...
sprit: DAILY connection with prayer and meditation to my HP, asking for guidance...WAITING and breathing b4 I react to something, and so its more respond rather than react....the old breath, pause and pray seems to be working...AND doing my grateful list.....Grateful my needs are being met, fridge is full, pantry and restroom closets are full...grateful for the people who love me and accept me as is.......
trying to practice easy does it keep it simple slow down and pay attention....progress not perfection
so how are you all doing????

Yes, it took a hot minute for you to "clean up" from the situation with having a roommate. But you rolled up your sleeves and got to it!! Brava!
Rose, I love how you posted on here exactly how you have been putting one foot in front of the other, ODAAT!! Sometimes, when a person is in the middle of the cyclone, it is hard to know what to do... having people give concrete examples of what works for them IMHO, helps!
I have been really focusing on eating "cleanly" as well. I also had to set some personal boundaries on news/political information. I was really becoming negatively affected by all the hate. I just keep reminding myself that come hell or highwater, I will be exercising my right to vote in November!!
I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. As you so smartly put it... he is in his HP's hands now.
How are your pups doing? I bet they are enjoying the "roommate free" life too!!

(((((((((((((((PnP)))))))))))))))))))))))) love hearing from you, girlfriend.....doggies are HAPPY she is gone, LOL...eating better, they can go in any room they want, etc., yea, I'm not sure they really liked her..more tolerence because they did NOT want her getting too close to me AND they did NOT want her in my bedroom....Oh well!!! shes gone!!!! ONward and UPward...yea, I am sorry losing the money (rent) but my peace was more important
I'm going to do posts on what did I do for my body..mind..spirit TODAY!!!!! kinda covers all our "stuff" I wold think and keeps us on recovery orientation
I'm glad you set limits on the news watching....I did big time...yea, I want to be aware, then I detach...I do what I can do in my community re: positive energy, etc., that is all I can do....love myself and share that healthy love in my community.....

GLad to hear you are betting back on track! I always remind myself that it's progress not perfection in ALL facets of our lives. One step forward is all it takes to start the ball rolling towards a more positive place.
Honestly, this quarantine has gotten me to start changing my eating and drinking habits. I was drinking a glass of wine (or 2) a night. It solely was habit, just something I did. I had gained a bit of fat around my middle and I know it was attributed to ALL diet. And, my blood pressure was in danger of being treated with meds, despite my other healthy habits and working out, etc.
So, I cut out the alcohol during the week, which was pretty easy. I'm not an alcoholic, I just had a bad habit that needed to be changed. I still drink a bit on the weekends but I started creating 'vinegar shrubs' from fruit and herbs that I mix with seltzer water or tonic water. SOOOO yummy! I have one of those a night and the vinegar settles my digestion in the evening. By cutting out all those empty calories, I have lost 5 pounds in 4 weeks. But, it's not about the weight as I'm a skinny fat chic lol. I just felt better in general. Less bloated, less brain fog in the morning. I sleep harder and longer. My boyfriend is also joining me in doing this and he's put back on some muscle he had lost during quarantine and not working out.
I had my follow up with my cardiologist a few weeks ago. My BP had dropped from 155-160 over 90-100 to 118/78!!! My doc was ecstatic and asked how I got it to drop so much. Wine, I cut out wine. Go figure. So, in an effort to keep myself heart healthy and to stave off other diseases, I am so grateful I get to continue practicing better self care.
So, Rose, you are doing the same. One step at a time, one positive action that precedes another. Hugs to you and I apologize for the long winded story!

Holy Moly...I drink 2 beers on Friday nights to blast my tunes and "chill" so far it has not impacted my BP, its usually like 90's over 65 or there about.....DANG!!! didn't know the wine, except maybe the sugar in it???? GOOD ON YOU!!! Taking care of you.....and Hugs back at ya.....
