Thank you, David for responding.That's a shame about the meetings.Back in '06 the meetings were great.Lots of ppl.This message board and the online meetings saved my life back then.I still visit the board occasionally.Not really the same as a meeting tho.

Hi Iris...welcome back...I agree with David, and I can't speak to the details regarding the "chatroom" meetings here. My own experience is -- whenever I stop in, there's no one there. I've popped in at the specific times of when the meetings are held, and again, sometimes there's a "couple" or "few" people, and sometimes no one is there.

I can't tell you what time the meetings are, and now that meetings aren't being help in most places around the US, perhaps all places around the US, I don't know how the schedule here may or may not have been revised, updated, etc.

I have not popped into the chatroom in a long time. One, because before the pandemic, I went to face to face meetings. Two, now after the pandemic, meetings all over the world are going to zoom meetings! They are incredible. You might want to check your "local" meetings, state-wide meetings, or national if you like, as there are countless meetings that are now doing zoom meetings!!! All the best!

Welcome. I am relatively "new" so I did not know you before.

I use this board or F2F meetings. I find the online meetings too slow for me, as well as too darn early (west coast here).
I am now checking out the "Zoom Meetings."

PandP...I've been doing a lot of alanon zoom meetings from LA...and they are great!!! Some of the best meetings I've been to anywhere in the world! I went to one this afternoon (morning out in LA) and I am going to another one in a few hours! Hope to see you at one!

I was absolutely impressed not how quickly the LA, CA alanon community got their meetings up and running -- but at how many zoom meetings they have!!! WOW!!!

Hey Iris - welcome back to MIP. Yes, the meetings were fantastic back in the day and saved me as well over and over again. The meetings and this area are separate, and the best point of contact I can think of to check when meetings are happening is a member, Overcome. There is an effort to get meetings going here again, esp. with the pandemic. I've not yet had a chance to check them out, but plan to do so as time/schedule allows.

Iris, I hope you got the information you were looking for. I am not surprised that many people read your post and didn't reply. The activity here is light and some people might be myopic in their focus. That, and there is so much going on in the world around us right now. Many people are struggling, and some are struggling with a lot.

Like I said, I can't speak to the meetings here. The activity here, on this board, seems very light, so getting a group of people together, at a specific time would seem to yield an even smaller number. But, that means nothing -- find out when the meetings here are, go, and see if people show up! Good luck with that! You would think that with what's going on in the world around us -- meetings would be easy to have, easy to get going again!!! So, check it out.

From my experience, I am looking elsewhere, and I've found nothing but hundreds of zoom meetings, around the world, for alanon!!! I've sat in on meetings from NYC, Northern NJ, Los Angeles, Australia/NZ, Vancouver, and the recent Al-Anon Without Borders, which was a "world-wide" event. I've sat in on meetings with 8 people, 280 people, and 1000 people attended this past weekend's event. Whatever you want is out there.

If you are looking for meetings...ask. You might not find it here, but it is out there. All the best.
