ive just had to put my 14 year old yorky (milo)to rest.
he had kidney failure ,i thought he was getting better before i found out he had kidney failure,
id begun syrenge feeding him for last 5 days ,he get better then go back down ,took him to vet ,checked his kidneys he had only 5 percent working,yet he was still so alert,and walking at times to drink out of his water bowl,even ate some on his own,the veteranian is a good vet,broke the news to me very slowly n gently.
of course i broke down so did my son,we know he is in alot better place in heaven ,no more suffering,
i was so blessed to have had him this long weighing only 4 lbs and 2 lbs at his death.
i felt my hp arms around me a sence of calmness flowed over me,im now back home got all his things put away packed neatly in a suitcase.
now to begin a whole new chapter in my life without him,,for my life had revolved around him,
planning on picking up new hobbies and going more places ,,no more hurried to get back home...
still grieving gonna take time,ive had others already wanting me to take another pet,,im not ready for it,,may not ever be ready,made my decision i was done with pets,i love them to pieces ,i would spend more time with my pet than anything else,a loooong break for myself to readjust,and get use to being with only myself,trusting my hp to guide me ,this will take some time to get use to not waking up n going to bed everyday without my fur baby.i know now im gonna be ok,hp spirit is strong......thanks for hearing me,i know i dont post as much as i should,,i am reading my dailies every day,praying n useing my tools ,easy does it keeps coming to mind.my hp speaks to me .

I lost one of my dogs a few years ago
It was brutal. He had the hip dysplasia and was in a lot of pain. Now I have had another dog for a while. It is 4 years. I adore him
The grief is a hard one
I.am sorry for your loss
When my dog Pepi was sick she still wanted to walk even though she could not walk. My animals have been a great comfort to me

I thought that I could understand easily and accept that way also but not. My critters took up room in my head and heart and life and having to put them down and then bury them out on the front yard where we could always see and be reminded was painful. Still remember how they feel...(((Clhoe and Sadie)))

yes Temple he was precous,we slept together he made a great snuggler,
yep jerry i soo understand ,milo came 1st ,always had n got all my attention ,my son and dil tried all day to get me to take in a rescue ,they got 5 rescues,im not ready for another,told them i was done he was my 1st and my last,its not easy for me being single to,all the vet bills,etc etc are all on me.
i do remember when you lost your 2 fur babies to,i didnt wa nt milo to be buried at home,so i got very lucky there ,i was blessed beyond measure to have him put where he is laid to rest,i think im seeing him at times ,strange quietness in my home now,i am having alot of flash backs of him......storming tonight ,,,he always ran and jumped in my lap..ive got to get use to this not having his compan y anymore ,take alot of planning and alot of time to heal to........hugs LU

Had to put my 12 yr old down 2 years ago. She had cancer and we spent a ton of money on chemo, which did not help at all. We still have her buddy who is 14 1/2. If she makes it to July she will be 15. In people years she is 98 and Im trying to appreciate her every single day. Im still grieving for the 12 yr old , Snap. We got Ginger and Snap the same day at 4 months old. The pain of this loss hit me a day or two ago and I began crying. These creatures are Gods gift to us, and they are family. The loss of them is beyond words, that only animal lovers understand. Lyne. So sorry for all your losses. Lyne

My condolences. It is never easy loosing a part of your heart... and our furbabies are definitely parts of our heart!!
Having been a Veterinarian Technician most of my working life, I have been around pet death a lot. Does it get easier with multiple pets, my pets? No. I lost my sweet Boxer last July, and there are times that the tears still come. I am in the process of providing a living memorial to her in my yard. Soon (when I can let go), her ashes will be interned there. I have always planted something in memory of my lost pets, as a way to honor their contribution to my life. I find it healing.
I believe that you do see your deceased pets afterwards. They appear - not to cause you pain - but to reassure you that they are at peace, and will be waiting for you on the Rainbow Bridge when the time comes.
TLC right now, LU. Do what is right for you, but keep an open heart... you just never know who might need YOU!
MY favorite saying about my rescued Boxer: "Who Saved Who?"

I spent a lot of money on my pets as they aged. I am staying at my friends house right now (which is very very uncomfortable for me) largely because it is a better place for my dog. He has indeed settled down and us happy here. My pets comfort comes before my own
I also have to be mindful that when I am stressed out it affects my dog. When I was moving out the stress was tremendous. My dog was affected by it tremendously
Now he is happy he is ny priority.

I'm so sorry (((LU)))) It's so hard to lose our dogs. Definitely take time to adjust to not having them around at home. Keeping taking good care of yourself as you grieve. Good to hear that you're considering some hobbies. That can help a bit until the pain of your loss lessens a bit. I still miss my dogs even years later. They really gave me so much unconditional love. Keep sharing. ((hugs))) TT

(((LU))) - I am so, so sorry for your loss. It was jarring to read your post simply because we are going 'through this' exact same thing currently! My sweet rescue dog, approximately 14, has terminal kidney disease. Her age is approximate because we rescued her as an adult, and her age then was a guess! She's been with us more than 12 years and is the best dog I've ever had. She was obedient trained at the closest prison and is the sweetest, docile dog I've ever been around. She's fading right before our eyes.
We are watching her closely and will take and help her move on when we see any signs of pain. She's sleeping a ton, but still eating and still willing/wanting to go for her walk each day. Two different mornings in the last 4 days, I woke and thought she'd passed because she didn't move an inch when I got out of bed (not typical).
I am sad knowing what's coming. We are all giving her extra love, pats, hugs, kisses. Many of my friends have even stopped by to love on her. My dog lost her best friend, next door neighbor's dog to cancer, and she's been depressed off/on since then - about 6 months. She's lost some weight and we're in the watch/wait/see/act mode.
Pets certainly are part of the family, at least for me! What I've always loved is the unconditional acceptance and love they give. No other member in my house is as consistent with that! She's been with me through all the chaos/drama of raising teen-age boys with this disease + my AH's disease and multiple heart attacks/surgeries/etc. I know she's had a great life with us - far, far better than before and for that, I am grateful.
Please grieve as you need to and know that it's all good. I have already started and trust my HP to let me know when it's time. I've got you and your son in my prayers and am glad your pup is on the other side of this disease. (((Hugs)))

I should say after s struggle for a while my dog has blossomed where I moved to

I was joking with one woman I met today who was walking her dogs. The dog cane first. He us pretty happy at the moment. I am exhausted and feel singled out. But then when you get boundaries it does not go down too well does it?
I was left with all the oets when the ex A and I split up. Two cats and two dogs. The recession was terrible. I moved specifically so that I' could gave the pets. He wasn't interested avd ge claimed to love the beagle. One year I spent over $2000 on vet Bill's. I found out recently I could have had the outs euthanized at the local pond. Instead I paid ten times that price.
I know what is ti lose a beloved pet. I took on the dogs and cats when the ex A.abdicated
I took on my current dog from an abusive owner. He had a big priority in my life. He comes first
This next month is going to be hard esdy from my home.
March is a long month
I feel very alone and am so grateful for al anon

So sorry for your loss...I lost my fur child, my best friend in Oct...I still ache for her presence...her fat body waddling with her toy in her mouth, wanting to play tug o war....her back legs /hips went out and one day she could not get up....I had to get the animal shelter to help me get her to be PTS...it killed me...I howled , literally, screaming, thought I was gonna just flat line right there in front of the man helping me.....I know how bad it hurts....luckily, I have these last 2 puppies that she raised up and they are fine young "ladies" and they take good care of me....had I not had them??? I would transfer my grief, go to the animal shelter (all my pets are rescues) again and I would save a life or two......I don't feel disloyal to the deceased because my best friends would never want me alone....yea, I still would cry for the one lost, but having a new life, rescued and safe, would give me solace..............sending you comfort hugs.....RIP, little Yorkie man...You had a loving and good mom.....He was a lucky little chap to have had such a great life with you.........

ive just got to except and let go ,let god.
does warm my heart knowing i have a loving caring compassionate hp,that he knows all ,my hurts and suffering.

(((LU))) - grieve as long as you want/need. I so understand how sad it is/makes us feel. I believe today is the day that we will need to help Layla, my beloved pet, cross over. She has stopped eating and while she's as loyal and sweet and compassionate as she can be, I do believe she's probably having some discomfort/pain. i still look for him,he isnt here.
i find myself going to feed him then stop dead in my tracks n whimper.
go about my business,keeping busy and going is how im dealing with all the loss lately,i dont think i greive in a healthy way i get sick to my stomach and shallow breathing ,panic attacks set in..i never learned how to grieve as a child growing up like with everything else just learned tgo stuff feelings that were uncomfortable.
im sad for yur layla,,i know its not easy giving them up .hardest thing id ever done.

My current dog is my life
I moved temporarily over here during the rennovation
I am stil having a hard time with the moving/moving back
I do not have an official date yet
This move had cost ne a fortune
It still is costing me a fortune
In storage.
The date I have to.move back is all up in the air
Now my work has slowed down
I have had to look for other work
It is one long hard slog
And I am so grateful for my dog's love through it
