I look at my old world- and the pointlessness, and the pain... and some of this i still carry with me. The people who understand me best- are people like me. I needed this guidance, and this company- companionship.

I look over the message board here this morning- with pride- and relief. Hope and help is at hand.

Our first efforts at healing often seem messy- and hopeless. But we all do have the right to be wrong. And we all need somewhere to learn. I think for a lot of us the learning, and even the ability to learn, has been lost!

But hey! We have all bin through this. Unlike old stuff this is fresh in our memory. This is a part of our journey. And we cannot forget.  ...

I do like the journey David, am always up for a challenge and especially the learning part,

but also know when it is the right time to gracefully demit, without regret.   

     Thanks Debb... it is Sunday morning here now. I did not want to start a new thread. I learned the steps and the traditions early. The group had a conscience meeting which I did not attend- and they chose a sponsor for me. My sponsor was a lovely person. I teamed up with hubby and he formed an open sharing meeting in our town. I had my green Alanon 12x12 and he had his AA one. and we thoroughly studied from both books. After 18 months or two years the group became a flourishing AA group- and it still is one!

I am not an expert on the traditions- by any means- but I do have confidence. It removed the uncertainty I sometimes see in other people. I tend to know what is possible- and what is not. Often two traditions work together. My favourite part of the programme now- comes from Alanon Concept 4. Participation is the key to harmony.

For me- this is not just about group harmony- it is about personal harmony too. Confidence and poise. We are in the right place- and we are learning to do the right thing. And this is the place to do this- all of us together.  ...
