Good morning MIP and Happy Thursday! Today's reading is about Step 3 - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. The writer shares that before Al-Anon, others were allowed to decide how one should live, where one should go and do! The reading continues suggesting that even though they took little responsibility for their own life, they saw self as an expert on everyone else's life and felt accountable for all that happened.
The first 3 steps are written to help us overcome these attitude problems. We accept our inability to control the disease in step one, We come to believe a power great than self can help in step two and then it becomes possible, desirable and even logical to make the decision to trust a Higher Power with our life and our care.
Reminder: At the start of each day I can make the decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God. This way I begin my day with a strong assertion that I choose to accept the reality of my life. I am moving in a healthy direction, growing ever more able to live a good life and to love those I meet along the way.

When I first began my recovery journey, it was suggested that I pray each morning and each night. The morning prayer was for guidance, gratitude and grace, and the night time was appreciation for all that happened, and my willingness to learn from the day. I came with a jumbled mind, racing thoughts and tons of negative energy as a result of living with this disease, and it was darn hard to focus my mind on these 2 simple suggestions, yet I tried. To this day, I still practice daily prayer, morning and night and have since added other suggestions...
I love action for my recovery and in recovery, and this step suggestions action - Made a decision....It does not suggest that we have now become perfect praying, fully trusting members in recovery - it just suggests we make a decision to turn over our wills and lives. For me, I've always had a very strong will and it was greatly amplified in my battle against this disease in those I love!
I have been gifted with actual proof of how much better my attitude, outlook, life and days are by making this decision, each day, one day at a time. I love that if I take my will back, I can start my day over at any time. I love that in recovery, even when I fall, I am still a miracle in progress. My will and ego almost drove me over the edge; recovery and the steps gave me back a great life, full days and tons of gratitude!

IAH, thank you so much for your service and today's reading.
Praying is the very first part of my morning ritual, could not start my day without my prayers and mediation. It is not always about me, but always thank my HP first for this day and ask for blessings for those in my life and this earth. I am not the center of the universe and my prayers always set me on the right path each morning. I try to, in all my actions and thoughts, see myself in the care of God, so that it is a constant reminder that I truly cannot control anyone including their disease.

It took A LOT for me to believe that my HP will provide all I need to begin living fully... without fear. It is a nurturing of Faith... and I don't mean religious faith. Faith that I will somehow get the money... or Faith that everything will work out as it should. I work on it daily by starting my day with my Gratitude List. I try and make a conscience effort to say my "thanks" at the end of my day. For me, it is about being present in the moment.
To "... accept the reality of my life," That is what I work on daily. To stay out of the fantasy world of "should be's."

IAH, thank you so much for your service on this great step and share. The other shares are wonderful too. Step 3 has become one of my morning rituals to share with myself after morning prayers. I could not handle the life I had on my own, and was stuck in an abyss of depression and negative thinking. Program has truly saved me with wisdom and common sense. Can't imagine how I would have otherwise survived. I have gratitude everyday, throughout the day, and try to bring myself to joyful moments all day long. I have learned I can make my glass half full anytime I choose. Lyne :)
