When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, let the hand of Al-Anon always be there, and
Let It Begin with Me.
Saw this and wanted to share! It made me smile!
Blessing to all!!

Awesome share....and wonderful reminder. I must share --- when I was in grade school, we sang a church choir song - "Let There Be Peace on Earth, and Let it Begin With Me".....so -
Fast forward to adult age - I hear, "Let it Begin With Me" in recovery, and yes - the lovely song that our little voices sung so many years ago plays in my head!!! Sometimes, it becomes an 'ear worm' - I can't get it out of my head!!
As I age, I am constantly surprised how much music has lifted me, carried me, encouraged me over the years! I truly enjoy most genres, and always listen to the lyrics for the story/message!
(((Hugs)))

Yes, IAm... we sing that song today- on Anzac Day, our veterans day. I think of all my family members, 14 or 15 of them who served- and now all passed on... and think of the promise of a better world. Alanon can be a part of this promise. ...

Thank you for the great reminder, Debb!
Iamhere - I too used to sing that little tune in grade school/Sunday school! I chuckled at your post, b/c like you, I also begin singing the song in my head whenever I see the quote, "Let it begin with me."

I remember during my recovery...my sponsor and I spent a lot of time talking about and working on...how I needed to be OK, I needed to be happy, and I needed to be healthy...no matter how things worked out. Independent of the alcoholic/addict.
I am so grateful I was able to get to that place.

Let it begin with me = The Golden Rule in my thinking: Treat others as you wish to be treated! Its really very simple. Its up to me to treat others with respect. Thats the beginning of the cycle that I can have control of.
I wish I knew that little song.....Lyne

Glad to know others think of that song....I often wonder if my brain is wired so differently that I am 'out there' with my thoughts....good to know I have awesome company!!
David - I did not realize that song aligns with the Veteran's Day for your country/service men! It makes perfect sense to me now.
I love it when music speaks to me and others - the same way or different ways. (((Hugs))) to all!

Oh yes I am with the rest of the family with this music experience. I love when the hymn pops into my mind because of the memories solo and in choir. Also spiritual is our Al-Anon promise "when anyone any where reaches out for help I want the hand of Al-Anon to always be there...and for that I am responsible". Responsible stays with me in English and Hawaiian so I don't move very far off on the spirit. In Hawaiian it is Kuleana and is a constant in our culture. Thanks much for this post. ((((Hugs))))
