This reading reminds me of some of my character defects that I have been working on changing. I used to try to force solutions because I could not stand still and wait. Trying to force change did not work at all, even though the moments felt like they were an eternity. The Serenity Prayer is a big help to me when things are not going the way I want, as fast as I want. Pausing to use my tools is as good as its going to get, and leaning on HP to show me the way.

Thank you Lyne for your service and your share. When I came to Al Anon I thought my life would be better and all my problems would be solved if my AH got into recovery. I wanted him to go to AA so badly it hurt sometimes to hear others who had partners in AA. I was pushing for my AH to be better so I could be better. What this program taught me is my wellbeing and recovery doesnt depend on how the AH (or anyone else) is doing for me to improve my life. I have taken so many steps toward gaining peace in my life and none of it relies on my AHs sobriety. I know now if I had received my wish I never would have learned how to take care of myself so well. I wouldnt have stayed in the fellowship and gained all that support. I have also learned that I dont know what is best for my AH only he does. I have stopped trying to control what he does ( I never could do it anyway). I do know whats best for me and I focus on that. All this progress came from not getting what I want not reacting or fixing or fretting but from waiting and letting the program grow in me. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Lyne I can readily identify with attempting to force solutions and the impatience with the pace of life. Thanks to program i can now aaccept life on lie's terms and live with serenity Thanks for your service

Good morning MIP family....thank you Lyne for your service and the daily. Thank you all for your shares and ESH. I also can relate to trying to force solutions and readily identify lack of patience as one of my defects. I am not entirely certain why but I've been 'in a hurry' for most of my life! In Al-Anon, the suggestion of allowing life to unfold, one day at a time and taking it easy were all foreign!
Practice, practice and more practice helps. I do love the concept of living life on life's terms, and starting each morning with a clean slate. It helps me let things go and take what comes as it comes. Happy Monday all - off to walk the dog in a bit, followed by golf and then tacos later this evening with my gal pals! Make it a great day!

I have always been inpatient with results and to get what I wanted. I still have to work on it everyday. Like KT, if I had received all I wanted....including my A's sobriety.....I would have never progressed to the point I am at. I wouldn't have been any happier. I would have just moved on to the next thing to "fix."
Again, it goes back to giving it up to HP...... it unfolds and works out better than whatever I could have contrived.
