In today's reading from C2C, the author shares why they keep coming back to Al-Anon. When the author was new to Al-Anon, they would say "I'm better off now than I was before" I came to the program, I'll keep coming back. When they became frustrated by all the changes they wanted to make in themselves, the author said "At least I am aware of the problems." recently, the author told someone "If someone had told me a year ago that I would be where I am today, I wouldn't have believed it to be possible."
Time offers the author evidence that the program works. Over time, the author can see growth in their life. The longer the author lives by the principles of AlAnon, the more growth they see.
Today's Reminder: When I feel unable to move, or when I am filled with fear, I have a wonderful gift to help clear my way - the gift of memory. Too often memory has given me sadness, bringing back past hurt and shame. But now I can use my memory to see the progress I have made and to know the joy of gratitude. My own experience is teaching me to trust this wonderful recovery process. All I have to do is pay attention.

What a lovely reading for today! I often reflect on where I was when I first came to the program, or my first few years in the program, and compare that to where I am now. This gives me perspective on all the positive change I am making and how much better my life is today. One thing I do in my journalling process is dedicate one page per day, and write on every other page. Once I reach the end of the book, I go back to the beginning and write on the blank pages. Each day when I write, I am able to look back and reflect on where I was then, and where I am now. It is a great reminder of the positive changes I've made as part of the program.

Me also Skorpi. My recovery continues to be a major miracle along with all of the other miracle in program around me. I love them as much as I know my HP loves having me experience them....YAY!! I'm gonna keep coming back. ((((hugs))))

Been in Alanon for 38 years. I do 8 or 10 meetings a year now. And I tend to attend 3 or 4 meeting at a time. Som time ago my sponsor left Alanon for good. Her choice- and maybe a good one for her. I see hear around town from time to time, and we are still friends. And I was friends with her SO, as much as her, but he has passed away.
I am still learning and growing, emotionally... and I think this is a healthy base- for giving back... being in the present- instead of being bogged down- with the what-if's and the if-only's...
...I practise an attitude of gratitude. I keep well- health-wise. I have numerous deep memories of life 'in the rooms' which have sat sunlight over the shadows of my past. And, oh yes- I am forgetting the obvious!!! ... ...this group is my home group, basically. And I do attend here a lot. I recall the struggles i had in the USA- with traffic. As well as driving- on the wrong side of the road. ...

Hey, hey MIP Family - Happy Hump Day! Thank you Skorpi for your service and the daily. Thanks to you and all for the shares and ESH above me. I love that quote and how true it is...my AH loves to grow roses in the various gardens around our home, and it's so true that the lovely, fragrant memory of a rose can carry me through the winter time...figuratively and literally.
I keep coming back because I want to keep growing, changing, and living my life in a spiritual way. Left to my own will, I have no doubt that my ego and my will can return and I remember quite clearly where they got me. While not all was bad, my life and love was driven by a completely different force, with almost all things 'conditional'. Today, I practice and have some success with unconditional love, acceptance and low expectations and I am much more at peace with all that is.
I started my day with a round of golf with my AH - it was lovely, cool with a breeze! We are having hotter than average days, so it's nice to get out of the sun/heat before it get's hot! I hope all are having a great day - find and keep your joy all...(((Hugs)))

This is a great reminder, as it can sometimes be easy to feel lost again or back at square 1... but these feelings aren't facts... the fact is that I have an abundance of evidence that I continue to grow and bloom to a better version of myself.

Over the past few days, I've been taking carloads of household items for a local fireman's auction. You'd think my house would be looking a little emptier by now... lol... it feels very freeing to donate items that no longer serve me well.

WOW!!! Skorpi, that is GREATT!!! doing a journal, skipping a page and then coming back to do it again....I need to get back into journalling...not just on the boards, but at home...In my hand on paper...and do what you did...I have a spiral notebook that would be perfect for this....LOVED your share...and thank you for your service........there Are areas, where I am worse off (lost my job) and for the most part, mentally and behaviourally, I am better...

My life has been up.and down since I.came to the program
The difference for me is the tools.
I am better at detaching monumentally better at keeping the focus on me!!
