I have always tried to practice the golden rule, which todays reminder is similar to. But perhaps where I most need to practice these principles, is with myself. I am just coming out of a setback which lasted a good month or two. I have heard myself saying to me, I should know better, I shouldnt be doing this, Ive already gotten past this etc. I know that setbacks are normal and I need to be patient with myself. I cant cope with my A the way I want to, all of the time. Being human is being flawed. I can only move forward the best I can, at the pace I am doing, just as the author says. Lyne

Perfectionism is self-abuse. I've learned that myself as I used to "should" all over myself, too. Actually, "used to" is not correct. I'll still catch myself doing it occasionally. This happens more often when I'm off-center and not keeping HP at the top of my list of priorities.
Thanks for the reminder. And I, too, believe in the golden rule, and I tend to apply it much more easily to those outside of me but need extra work around doing it for myself.

Thanks to those who shared above. Aloha, I loved what you said, "Perfectionism is self-abuse." I have never heard that, and I have never thought of that trait in that manner! But it truly can be a form of self-abuse!

Hello Lyne and thank you for today's reading.
I have been more aware of being non-judgmental toward people in my life.....not necessarily just fellow members. I have a couple of family members that used to drive me insane with their idiosyncrasies. Well, who is without idiosyncrasies? When I find my mind going "there" I quickly say the serenity prayer and ask for blessings on them. Who am I to judge anyone?
