Thanks Betty for your service. I know I feel relief and proud of myself when I can accomplish the things I dont want to do like making doctors appts., calling the insurance co., getting repairs taken care of, etc. Letting it sit on my mind for days or weeks accomplishes nothing. Taking action is the way to go, Lyne

I grew up a procrastinator b/c I looked at everything with rose-colored spectacles and pushed matters under the rug. We are talking early childhood here. Soon, it affected my school life.
I eventually grew out of my procrastinating ways - I think b/c of my logical way of thinking... I eventually realized that procrastination winds up biting you in the butt if you indulge it!!
As an adult, I don't so much procrastinate, but I am guilty of sweeping things under the rug... things I guess I can't deal with at the moment. I am working on facing them outright... to sit with the feelings, to 'practice the pause.'
Progress not perfection!

Happy Tuesday MIP family! Thank you Betty for your service and the daily. I approached adulting with a big planner, many 'to-do items' and a sharpened pencil. I've been a long time planner and have always enjoyed checking things off! For me, I don't often procrastinate but did sweep things under the rug or to the corner often. Then there is the extreme where I wanted to fix all things, everything immediately in a day so I could 'check it off my list'...
What our tools have done for me is helped me practice getting closer to balance - something I've never had good success with. I am either all in or all out, and pausing long enough to consider my needs, what's healthy and what's the next right thing helps me live one day at a time. Finding the balance among working hard, playing hard, self-care, spiritual life, etc. will always be a practice event for me.....so grateful we are focused on progress and not perfection.
Make it a great day - been golfing so far and got to get my car serviced for a road-trip/funeral tomorrow. (((Hugs)))

Due to my perfectionism as a child and adult, I didn't procrastinate very often. I needed to get everything checked off and before deadline was a must! If I was on time accomplishing something, I felt late to the game. It obviously came with its own set of stress and anxiety. If I pushed anything aside, it was my feelings that I wasn't allowed to have in my FOO. Fast forward to today and I am much more relaxed about how quickly something gets crossed off my list, or perhaps I don't get to it at all.....and that is OK too in most cases. I experience and express my feelings and am a lot less judgmental about others and their negative habits, as well. Unless, we're talking about my AH....really struggling with not being judgmental about his bad habits....lol. Working on that too, though.
I thank God for this program every single day. Happy Tuesday to all.
