Hey. Apologies for not being here as much as I could, but it is what it is. We've been attending a face to face meeting regularly now for a few months. I haven't made it my home group yet, but I probably will. Attending a face to face meeting is important and belonging to a group is important. I know that. We go there every week. I usually bring homemade cookies. I bring cookies to a lot of the meetings I go to in the other fellowship and I find that they are a good way to encourage fellowship. Members who like cookies have them with their coffee and members who don't like because they're on a diet or diabetic, they get to talk about that too. Talking to one another is important. I think the only thing I haven't done at this meeting we been going to is chairing and I'll get to that. One thing it is encouraging me to do is get back to the basics. My sponsor and I are revisiting the steps. I remembered doing the step meeting here years ago and that's why I came back, to reconnect. That's my rant for today.

Thanks for your service to the fellowship. I love it when members bring food, even if I don't partake most of the time, it's such a kind gesture. Thanks for sharing about sticking with the program. One day at a time.

Welcome back also Wolfe :). I love my F2F meeting and I also love the board here. Between the two I have a large MIP family, and they are both special and unique, yet carry the same messages to me. I have a friend from my meeting and we text each other every morning. My sponsor and I are doing the steps for the second time. Theres lots of love to be had and Im taking it! Lyne

Cookies???!!! Did somebody say cookies? Great to see you again (((wolfie)))) Have not been here as much either because of f2f meetings. Agree, there's nothing quite like connecting in person with old timers and welcoming the newcomer. At one of my meetings, signing up to bring treats is a part of of our service sign up. Snacks just add to the welcoming atmosphere which is always our goal. Some members will also bring beautiful flowers from their gardens to grace the meeting room tables. At this time of year, we tend to get visiting vacationers as well. It's nice to get new perspectives on Alanon topics and hear about varying meeting formats from visiting Alanon members. It allows us to consider new ideas based on Alanon principles for keeping our meeting fresh and growing our group with an emphasis on recovery and belonging.
I hope the meeting ends up to be a keeper for you and Nancy. I once read in our Alanon magazine someone refer to their home group as their "home sweet home," group. It's such a gift when we find one or more like this. I know I really look forward to attending not only for the experience, strength and hope but unconditional love and opportunities for service. Now how about a cookie?? Lol TT

Certainly we are a "Family" group because we behave like family with support, mind, body, spirit and behavior. Most mornings what I do before anything else is get to the meeting and listen, listen, listen and keep a gratitude for it all before coming home to breakfast. This morning was a stick meeting and my stick was "Twelve Steps" which of course is all about the journey I walk on a daily basis. I am still remembering and learning and am grateful I am allowed to and can. For certain MIP is a big part of this journey. ((((hugs))))

Good to see you again Wolfie! I have my regular meetings I attend and really miss them if I have a conflict. I try as much as possible to not miss and they are my family and the meetings are my therapy, my 'church', my tank filling, etc. My meetings, MIP, daily contact with others in recovery, readings, etc. are all a part of what makes me me today and my mind and days are truly better when I routinely invest in my recovery!
We have snacks at our meetings too....I also rarely partake simply because I am off sugar. Many do and it's a lovely aspect of the family! Please keep coming back - we miss you when you're gone!

Yes the MIP family, Thanks for reminding me Lyne. I used to have a big family of people I connected with here and there. I spend a lot of time on various social media because of volunteer work I do so if ever anyone feels so inclined to connect with me, just shoot me a private message and I'm sure we can be fbook buddies or whatever. or not.
