I have attended one Al-Anon meeting at church and will be attending more regularly as finances allow! My brother is a "recovering alcoholic" but still drinks fairly regularly! I am reading ODAT; my wonderful friend gifted me a copy and it's been helpful!
We have a history of alcoholism on my paternal grandpa's side-he and his dad were alcoholics!
I am a 59 year old single woman who lives with my brother and our sweet Pug! I enjoy knitting, crocheting, reading and am a strong Christian.
Hoping someone is moved to help me!

Welcome to MIP tootie - glad you found us and glad that you posted and shared a bit of your story! I also posted on your share looking for help with the online meeting/chat room. I am a huge believer in local sponsorship vs. online as I believe there is huge benefits from face to face sharing, contact, step work, etc. I encourage you to keep attending local meetings, and possibly try a few different ones.
Keep coming back - there is hope and help in recovery!

Welcome, tootie.
I agree with IAH - in-person sponsorship is invaluable. Most especially when you're new to the program. While your'e attending face-to-face meetings, keep your eyes open for someone who you feel emulates the behavior and actions you'd like to have for yourself and then ask!
