I believe my spouse is drinking. She denies it. I know the signs. I also know she is a skilled liar. It ruined our Xmas night. Today we are leaving for a winter getaway we take every year. We are not in a good place.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, Lyne

((Lyne)) please remember that this is a dreadful disease that can be arrested but never cured. The best we can do is take care of ourselves during the relapse period, use our alanon tools, not engage nor waste a moment of our lives attempting to fix another .
Please take your tools with you and try to enjoy your vacation. Remember you have worked hard for this special time

(((Lyne))) - sending you positive thoughts and prayers. Be gentle with you and know you are not alone...I am sorry the disease is raising up - when that happens here, I still tend to get very fearful. It takes conscious program effort for me to remember I am a believer in a power greater than I.

I am so sorry to hear that you and you SO are in a bad place at this moment. But all the shares above me are spot on... you got this! You have the tools to manage the only thing you can... you and your expectations. I know all too well the feeling of disappointment. It can put you in a funky place. Get that toolbox out, and try and enjoy this time for YOU.
Sending you light & love!
Peace!

Lyne, best wishes for a relaxing getaway. I'm sorry for the challenges you are facing. Can you find a meeting near your vacation spot? Contact with meetings has helped me this holiday season.

Many many hugs .. I am so sorry that this stupid disease gets its hooks into everyone it touches.
I was reminded how powerless I am over other people, places and things. No matter how much I want to try and control those things how totally miserable I wind up being.
Wishing you peace, serenity and hope, many hugs to you and your spouse and you work through individual stuff.

Grateful for all the ESH, care, and support. I have put my tools to work and am better today. I have the choice to ruin my few days away or be grateful for what I have. I will lean on gratitude and take ODAT. Thank you all, Lyne

I had some disastrous Chrostmas holidays with the now ex A
My expectations were always way way way off with him I got swallowed up in rage resentment and bitterness
These days my expectations are far lower and I also know the holidays are a huge trigger for me
