I have grown more accustomed to change. The older I get, the less set in my ways I become in how I view change, anyway, lol.
Today, I find myself so very grateful. I LOVE the condo I'm renting. I couldn't have found a better place with better neighbors. It's quiet, it's decorated the way I want, I love how the Christmas decor looks and how the tree brightens up the space, and I love the community center with the pools, workout facility, community events, tennis courts, and hiking trails. I am feeling so very blessed!
My job is busy but the stress is easy for me to handle. I like most all the people I work with and my days fly by and are over before I know it. I'll be grateful after the new year because things will settle down again until tax season in March. The company gave my department a 5% raise and also company wide we got a $2000 stock bonus of company stock that we're immediately vested in. So, things are good at work and I'm hoping to interview for other departments once tax season is over.
I'm expanding on my yoga practice, trying to master poses I've never been able to do before and it's a beautiful experience. And, I'm making sure I make time for friends and my son, of course.
I'm with a new guy who is right for me, at the moment. And, none of this would have happened with out change. One thing I've learned is that change happens when we are uncomfortable. Change does not happen when we're sitting on the couch vegging out to reruns of Seinfeld. I am learning to embrace change and to make it a part of my daily life.
God bless you all and I hope you are having a beautiful holiday season!

Hi Andromeda!
So nice to hear things are going well for you and your reflections on change. I so agree - change happens when wee are uncomfortable. A perfect message for me to hear today. Thank you

Do something uncomfortable every single day. One thing. There is an entire, huge, industry on change, making change...seminars, books, courses, experts, you name it. Personal growth, empowerment, break-throughs, and so on. All of it...is about...change! No one ever wrote a book, created an entire industry on staying the same!!! LOL.
Change...can't...don't want to...try, try again...not try at all...when a person can be honest with themselves, and focus on doing it, rather than talking about it, or talking about why, or talking about why they can't, making excuses, and so on and so on...that's when change occurs...when you do it.
If you are struggling, stuck, unhappy, whatever...read Andromeda's post...that's recovery...that's happiness.
Thanks for posting this Andromeda!

Great share Andromedia I too have learned to accept change since entering program. The tools of detachment , trusting HP, living one day at a time, being in the present moment, acting with courage instead of fear all have allowed me to show up, enter a new relationship and actually embrace change.
Glad that you life is providing joy

Thanks for all the shares. Early on, I could not tolerate a sudden change of plans. Program has helped me become so more flexible and spontaneous . These are surprising gifts for me, and unexpected. Even family notices the difference! Thank you Alanon, Lyne

It's such a good topic. Thanks for giving me food for thought.
My experience is that the life changes that propelled me into Alanon were inevitable. I previously thought they were my failure. They were my lifeline!
I'm going to remember your line about the couch and Seinfeld reruns. Hilariously true.

What is that old saying?
Change is inevitable, suffering is optional??
You, my friend, are becoming the poster child for all things Al-Anon. So many positives, such a good vibe and feel..... Proud of you, and how much work you have put in for yourself and your son.
Merry Christmas, and change looks really good on you and your spirit!

Pain is inevitable...suffering is optional.
That was one I constantly heard in f2f meetings here in my area.
That said, in my experience, accepting change is very different to making change. I read Andromeda's post and I see a person who specifically and consciously made a decision to change things in her life. We watched it, we read about it. She did it!!! That is a lot more than I can say about a lot of people.
Now, you get into other dynamics, other circumstances, other types of situations, sure, they may be related -- and accepting change -- sure, that is important. It can be freeing, empowering, and so much more.
For me though...getting better, getting healthy, finding happiness when you are not happy, finding whatever when you don't have it...that is about making change.
Thanks for posting.

Wow! This is a great thread and really great shares on here. Though change gives me the shivers, I am much better than I used to be in that I have learned to flow more and fight less. I have a way to go, But progress over perfection. As long as I know I am trying to do the next right thing by me and sharing that with others I am OK with me. Thanks for this nice share Andromeda and it is good to see you doing well

Thank you so much for talking about normal stress. I come from a very dysfunctional family I do not know what normal stress is.
I am glad life is going well for you I am looking forward to the New Year looking forward is not something I am familiar with.
