MY Amtrak Miracle:

Went to NYC to see hubby for an overnight, while he stayed at a hotel for work. Fun to spend time in Manhattan and take in a concert. Then the next morning I found myself a bit sad, so I was praying/talking to God about life's losses and sadnesses with the goal of moving beyond them and getting on with my day (Had visited a sick loved one & when am seeing my terminal sibling so sick from her long history with addictions, I need to prepare that I will likely be sad for several days afterward and what sadness does to me is often cause shame from a past where emotions were unsafe to feel and even normal sadness was seen as self indulgent). But anyway my message back from my gentle loving hp was a feeling inside (no words) If there were words, they seemed to be saying: "yes it is so understandable that you would feel sad with this impending loss and other losses that are still fresh, but please remember to LOOK but don't STARE as the ala-literature says. See this and feel your human emotions because you cannot understand it any other way than from your human experience... and of course it will feel like loss---but don't miss ALL this great stuff & beauty that is also happening all around you. While you are at it keep on the path of trying to be the kindness and compassion you want to see in the world".... So off I then go to Penn station for my Amtrak train and I ask an employee for a little help figuring out where to best wait and when the display will announce my train track. He was helpful-I thanked him and we had a kind exchange of words a couple of times during the wait. Finally they announce the track for my train north and I quickly go toward it. I can't believe there are literally over a hundred people ahead of me in line already. I wondered how the heck they all beat me to it or somehow seemed to know ahead of time which track it would be on. So I go slouching with my luggage to the back of the line and that man happens to see me again. He takes me by the elbow and says "Come here.... You were sweet and kind to me earlier and now I want to do something nice for you". He guides me over to the escalator that is empty because it is coming up from track 10 while everybody else is going down on the opposite one. Then he proceeds to take his giant set of keys out and he puts one in the escalator lock. He turns it and suddenly the escalator is heading down to the train and I am the only one on it. I am the first one on the train. It was like the red carpet treatment. I blessed him for making me see how loving and kind a stranger in a city can be. I am gonna pray for him every day from now on (Amtrak man-HP will know who I mean for sure). 

To top this off,  later as I was driving home from the train station in the dark, I told a friend my story. As I hung up, a shooting star flew across the sky above me on the highway. I haven't seen one of them in 15 years. What a blessed, unforgettable, God-shot experience that was! Made my day and I thought it may lift someone else up as many of your stories have lifted me.
