I've had a couple of good months with daughter making some progress. But, alas, the peaceful period of time is over. Again.
She had a job but lost it. Moved in with a guy she had just met and, amazingly, it was going pretty well. This guy was her age (28) and was a father at 18. His Father had to send him to a group home and wilderness camp to get him on track again when he was a teenager. The guy went to work every day but guess what? He couldn't handle her drinking. He said "she becomes a different person when she drinks." YES SHE DOES!
So they just broke up yesterday and she got a ride out of town with a guy she didn't know while lugging two garbage bags of her belongings. The guy she got a ride with kept getting grabby and kind of weird about displaying his guns he had with him. She bailed and is now in a little town wearing holes in her garbage bags which contain everything she owns and has accumulated in the last 3 months. She found another guy who allowed her to stay with him last night and tonight. He is at work and is letting a stranger stay at his place-he's a crazy as she is.
I guess I shouldn't use the word "crazy" but seriously, there has to be some kind of mental illness going on. She says that a 9-5 isn't for her and she'd rather die than do something she doesn't' like for such little money. So tonight, she is meeting MORE strangers online to earn some money doing "sexy massages".
This Mom is sitting at home watching tv, eating snacks....and praying. Because this is WAY bigger than ME.

Thank you Betty, you are so pretty! You look peaceful in your picture. I wonder if I will ever look peaceful?
She wanted me to drive to where she is and make us some dinner in this stranger's house while he is at work. Oh....that sounds so appealing! Someone doesn't have the money for dinner, does she?

Rachel'sMom -- I can only imagine what this must be like. While I've had friends go through similar situations, it still doesn't mean I can "wear your shoes" and feel what you are feeling being in them. I have a 23yo daughter, so I can put my head somewhere and my fear, pain, you name it, is so intense -- and it's not even real.
You sounds so strong, and so courageous. For the months things were allegedly going well -- you were doing well, doing what you needed to do, focusing on you, working on you, etc. I hope you were going to meetings, working with your sponsor, and working your program. While we don't project -- we can be prepared for the expected or unexpected. So here you are now, feeling what you are feeling, but knowing you have a program and leaning into your program.

Now more than ever...get back to the basics...readings, meetings, phone calls, sponsor, and doing the work.
It works if you work it, so work it, you're worth it.

(((Rachelsmom))) - I can relate as I have one active also presently. It wears on the heart and pulls on the soul so, so deeply - you are not alone. It is times like this that give me gratitude for practicing this program as best I can one day at a time, each day. Lean in to recovery, your program and your HP - be gentle with you! I Don't know your Pain of it being My Child, however this Disease Rips thru my Family on All Angles... Its So Hard to sit and Watch, and Sometimes I Can't... Sometimes the Only Power I Feel I Have is Handing them Over to their HP And Praying they Hear it for themselves I do My Best to Lead by Example, because in my Family... "Every 'A' Knows what's Best for the Other!" Or So they Think :/
