The ODAT reading for Sept 1 , speaks of the isolation that surrounds us when our thoughts are saturated with the pain of our unsolved problems. This leads to being surrounded by the feeling of loneliness. We may confide with friends, but believe they do not fully understand.
The reading suggests that as we lift our thoughts to higher things and not isolate ourselves in our problems
the quote "let me not deprive myself of the many little joys that are mine for the taking."

I know every day when I go out I observe the flowers, birds and squirrels and appreciate the beauty of nature. My problem seemed to be diminished by the beauty that I see......................Lu

Good morning Betty and LU - thank you both for your shares & ESH. Thank you LU for your service and the daily. I can find beauty in all things today which is vastly different from before. What has changed? Me, my attitude, outlook, etc. - all from working recovery as best I can.
I do feel today it is the small things that remind me there is a higher power, and it's not me. I did feel very alone before recovery resulting from isolating. I felt like I was drowning at times with all the unresolved issues, fear and sadness. Yet, I found a lifeline in Al-Anon, and I am grateful I grabbed it and held on. I am reminded of HOPE - Hold On, Pain Ends!
I hope everyone has a lovely day and a great weekend! (((Hugs)))

thank you (((((LU))))) lovely share, lovely reminder that there is beauty in the ashes....when I am really *down* i can go outside..sit in one of my comfortable yard chairs and just - observe - notice where I am at..smell the fresh air, the mowed grass of a neighbor's lawn, see the doggies play with their (abundance of) toys, watch the birds flit from one tree to the next, happily chirping between each other, feel the warmth of the sun on me, the gentle breezes on my body, just - noticing - the life going on around m and enjoying and all of a sudden, my problems or irritations become a "how important is it really????" issue....

Thank you for the daily LU, and for all who shared their truth! I really appreciate seeing the ODAT posted today!!!
I too connect with nature on the deepest of levels. From my teen years (when I was questioning my religious upbringing) it is the one place that I truly feel connected to a Higher Power (God/Goddess). Nature - in one form or another - has never failed me. It allows me to calm my mind from the racing thoughts that always used to inhabit my brain!
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Thank you for your service LU. A great reminder of ways to shift from the solitude of my anxious thoughts... towards something more serene.

Thanks Lup...
for the reading- first day of spring here... ...
from my childhood that deep sense of loneliness was accompanied by pain- migraine and similar conditions.
I was told one time to feel gratitudes for the drinkers in my world. Impossible at first- with the weight of anger and despair. But in a snese this sits with me okay now... ...
...the pain too... was a driver- a desperate driver to find solutions. I learned early that drinking and drugging was not permanent pain reliever. So drinking was abandoned. Most of my friends used dope, heroin LSD- that sort of thing. I had a natural spiritual experience at the age of 20. What Brene Brown would have also described as 'a breakdown'. But for me a way forward also.
So like you Betty- I sought inspiration on nature. Also I became to see Hp manifested in the live of people around me- most in recovery.
A member here says that she sees miracles happen all around her- [more or less]. And as I read certain posts am not surprised.
At assemblies I heard ~follow the winners~ good advice. Not race horses exactly... ...
LU... it is a great experience to be able to take time out and share...
thanks to you ma'am for your service here, and for the chance to participate. [Alanon Concept 4.]
