I am so glad I remembered the MIP message board. I don't know why it fell off my radar for a couple of years, but so glad to be back.
One thing I had fun doing was going back and viewing my old posts from my very first post here (back in 2007!), which reminded me that I had started getting unsettled by the alcoholic's drinking before I actually went to my first face-to-face meeting. I had forgotten that I had come here seeking answers maybe a couple of months before life got turned upside down. What a gift.
What is more amazing is to read what I was feeling at that time and recognize how much I've changed over the years, all thanks to Al-Anon. I've been a member for over 10 years now.
I was reading the stickied post about the Al-Anon Promises/Gifts, and I have to say pretty much all of those are true for me, and really have been true for quite some time. Thank you, God!
If you've been here a long time, I encourage you to dig back to your first posts and see how much things have changed for you, too. If you're new and have extra time on your hands, it might be an interesting read, as well. Find someone whose posts resonate with you and then dig back and see how they were years ago and you can see how much they've grown, as well.
It is absolutely true this program works if you're willing to work it. And boy are you ever worth it!

Aloha - I too am glad you're back. I also stumbled here one night in deep denial and tons of pain looking for help/answers/advice. It was also before I made it to a local F2F meeting. I also stepped away for a bit and then returned. I don't know how to go back to my first post but am quite certain it was full of fear, pain, denial and blame - that's how I arrived.
I am grateful that I and those here who are working it stay around to keep sharing and growing. MIP is a daily part of my recovery and one that I truly enjoy.....I hope to keep coming back and that others do too! (((Hugs))) - great share and topic!
