But I have learned that we can focus our thinking and as a result change how we feel. I had the opportunity to practice a couple days ago. Thanks Lyne for the service and the daily (a little early)....this allows me to share now as I am off to golf early in the AM. This reading takes me back to this morning....on Sundays, I do enjoy watching Joel Osteen for a bonus spiritual message and today's was about "Keeping your Joy"...
Basically, it aligns with the premise above - we get to decide who or what we give our power to. We can allow bad drivers to affect our mood, snotty cashier's, etc. or we can just keep moving forward and keep our joy.
I am willing today to be happy anytime over being right. I don't sweat the past or the small things in life and just keep doing the next right thing, one day at a time. This is so different than how it used to be - I could allow a morning event sour me for the entire day. I also had a hard time leaving the past where it belongs which clouded my mood, attitude and judgement. I am grateful for the freedom recovery presents for us when we work it!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on his important principle Lyne. I must say that once i felt "Serenity". which I believe is very close to" happiness", I resolved to never surrender that feeling to any minor annoyance or incident. Today i practice "Not reacting," using the serenity prayer, detachment and a slogan in order to accomplish my goal and and must confess I am more serene and happy than ever. Thanks for your service

I like today's reading because it underscores that I have a choice - I can decide to be happy, or I can decide to let inconsequential things take over. I'm back to work today after being away for a week, and this reading is just the prefect fit!
I learned as a child to delay happiness until the "work" was done, and then enjoy myself. This lesson was underscored by the time I spent at the university. The problem that I see with this approach for my life now, is that the "work" is never done, so if I do not carve out the time I need to take care of myself and to do things that I enjoy, I don't give myself that time. Making sure that I do take this time and that I don't worry about all the "work" all the time is something concrete I am doing to commit myself to choosing happiness.

I just had to laugh... as I was reading and absorbing everyone's shares, I came upon Skorpi's and I let out a loud, "Aha!!!"
I didn't even know it, but I could've wrote Skorpi's share too!
As Skorpi said, this way of living doesn't work well as an adult, b/c the "work" is NEVER done! Because I am now focusing on me, I am better able to see that I need to give myself "permission" to just BE...that with gratitude lists help me to find the joy in life. Thank you, Skorpi, for helping me to put a "Label" on this feeling!
