It is often that my spouse and I read from our literature at breakfast as we start our day. I recommend the practice often...it sets the tone for this AFG member. The pages of the day in our readers were so comfortably right on that I practice reading s l o w l y and focusing on what the writer is getting across. The consequences for me are that my life and the texture of it go much more smoothly even if I am now living with a practicing, alcoholic addict any longer. My spirit starts to hum and I feel more assured that I will be in the right place, doing the right thing, for the right reason thru the day. That is my request of my Higher Power in my version of the 3rd Step Prayer..."Place me where you want me....tell me what to co". My ego doesn't really like that prayer because it sounds as if I am letting go of all control, which I am, and accepting a better source of direction. HP never puts me in danger and when I do it isn't so deep that I cannot find my way out of it.
If you haven't got literature (lots of it) do so. Our fellowship is so very huge and our recoveries so powerful for ourselves and others.
Keep coming back....((((hugs))))

Thanks Jerry I do agree-- Alanon literature is certainly very powerful, that is why many MIP members have agreed to post their thoughts, each morning, on the reading for the day. They share from HFT , the ODAT and C2C all very inspiring books.

Great topic and great shares....I too find that my days seem to go much better when I start them with literature, prayer and meditation. We discussed in our meeting yesterday how no matter how many times a page has been read, we often 'see' or 'hear' it differently based on our stage. It was a great meeting about unconditional trust in our HP. So much better than the chaos/drama my mind used to present to me upon awakening!!

Jerry F... Where might someone obtain such literature? I am a lover of books. I need some inspiration for the Soul. Badly! Point the way for me!

Hello Starry Alanon literature is usually available at alanon face to face meetings. It can also be purchased online at alnon WSO. here is the link www.alanon-maryland.org/literature/
The daily readers: The Courage to Change and One day at at Time in Alanon are extremely helpful . Also 'How alanon works and Paths to Recovery provide great insight into the tools for recovery.

Starry, so glad you will be getting some literature. I actually got my first copy of "How Alanon Works" from my local public library.
What I like about Alanon literature is that it's not written by just one person. Each book is made up of the contributions of many, many fellowship members from around the world, all different ages and situations., who voluntarily offer their experience, strength and hope.
