I had an awful dream this morning. In the dream my ah left me. He said it was because we were arguing too much.
Now I am awake & crying.
I just want to share w someone out there.
Now I have to bed. I haven't been sleeping well.
It is 6:30 in the morning.
I need to go back to sleep.

Sorry you had an awful dream that disturbed your sleep. I hope you are getting some good rest now. I get these dreams too and have found praying when awakened by the dream or repeating a comforting alanon slogan can restore peaceful sleep. When I remember the awful dreams, I can often see a connection to events, internal turmoil or thought projections I've had and haven't resolved in my waking hours. It's as if my subconscious is acting out when these dreams occur. The dreams are typically F.E.A.R. based - false evidence appearing real. However, when they're happening they feel very real. I can awaken suddenly and feel both physically and emotionally exhausted.
Journalling during the day about things that are troubling me can help a lot. I consider MIP a journal of sorts with the added bonus of getting es&h from others. Also, alanon has taught me not to minimize my feelings. They are very important as am I. Even if an issue I'm having is one that many people experience, I don't have to hold back from sharing about and simply suck it up and keep moving through my day. The end result of stuffing my feelings can be these awful dreams. Sharing with a sponsor or calling another trusted alanon member can be beneficial for me. There's something about the physical release that comes from speaking my fears to another and particularly to the god of my understanding, my higher power that is well... empowering :) These tools at times will help me toward turning things over, let go and let god, resolve conflicting thoughts and settle into a place of trust beyond my human capability. There is a loving hp guiding my life that has taken care of me and will continue to do so whatever happens.

Hi HN-Unfortunately we all have dreams that leave us emotionally shaken. I am sorry about your's. I think TT summed it up pretty well. Even if it is a dream , we still have to turn it over and let it go. I once heard that dreams are often wishes or fears. I also try to connect horrible dreams to real events going on, and that helps me understand it and turn it over. I also try not to keep thinking about it throughout the day, because that can just keep me upset. I hope your day unfolds into something lovely. Lyne

My ah is not going to leave me. That is an affirmation. I will continue my day. Maybe I should workout the daynby getting out of myself & do something for someone else or make a phone call.

Hey there Hoot - so sorry that you had a bad dream and it left you with pain. So glad that you got some relief by sharing here - I tend to feel a bit more grounded when I can 'dump' what's in my mind and then process my reality.
