I feel Im the reason my AH started drinking after so long. It's to do with communion in the Catholic Church. I was heart broken to be told I couldn't take communion as he's a divorced man. The annulment inquisition for my husband was dreadful. His doctor said it pushed him over the edge. It is annulled now but I feel awful because it started him off again. My family and his family tell me it's between you and God for communion not anyone else. His family are c of e. I'm the one who forgot about the shouldn't go to communion bit!

Sad, sad, sad....I live within that belief system for years until I didn't and I didn't because of these rules but because I started feeling very very empty after mass. We would go to mass and then after before leaving church seemingly for no reason I would feel very alone and heart broken and break down crying. I then began to realize that what I was feeling was emptiness ad deep emptiness and I would have to leave the congregation and I did. I am a former theologist who mostly had much trouble with organized religions not only Catholicism.
Please do not assume I am anti religion as I am not. I am a practitioner and believer of the Creator Father of my culture; the Hawaiian Culture and Akua my Higher Power is with me daily...right now even and I love the relationship which fills me constantly.
God is and God never isn't. ((((hugs))))

((Ling)) please search out alanon meetings and attend. Here We learn that we did mot cause the disease,, cannot control it and cannot cure it. If your hubby relapsed after the incident with communion and the church that is not your responsibility. It is a relapse in his disease thinking and his disease. it is not your fault.
