Let go and let God: Today's reading talks about the empowerment we can truly feel, when we accept that we are powerless over the alcoholic and all her problems. The writer understood that his alcoholic had her own Higher Power, and that HP and the A could work out her life circumstances. The writer finally felt free to live his own life, knowing that HP was in charge of the A he loved.
Today's Reminder: Today I choose to place my trust in that Higher Power, knowing that all is well.
Quote from The Alanon Family Groups--Classic Edition: If we supply the willingness, God supplies the power.
Early in program I was working the steps with my sponsor, learning the slogans, and some of the other tools like the three C's. I came upon a large sticker, that was about a foot long and 2-3 inches high. It said :FREEDOM . Many Alanon things came into focus all at once, and it was like I was hearing the Hallelujah Chorus. I placed that sticker where I could see it everyday, and that was a turning point for me. I am free of the burden of trying to fix my A, which I was unable to do after many years of noteworthy efforts! Ah, freedom. Lyne

Hi Lyne great topic. I love the idea of your finding the "Freedom" sign and using it to remind yourself of the alanon program and the powerful principles that the program represents. I found that I needed to accept the fact that alcoholism is a disease over which i was powerless in order to implement the many tools alanon offers.
Thanks for your service

Thank you Lyne.
One thing that amazes me about this program..... I can wake up to a mess going on in my head, then read what others have shared, C2C and other Al-anon material........and all falls back into that peaceful place of knowing what I can control.....and what I cannot. It truly is amazing that it can happen in such a short time. I'll leave my thoughts in Gods hands today.

Thank you Lyne.
Like the author, I felt that I had to do just the right thing, or the newly sober alcoholic in my life would start to drink again. reading like this helped me to realize that her drinking is not up to me, she and her HP have to sort out what she is going to do, whether she drinks or stays sober, whether she wallows or goes to meetings, all those things are hers to take care of, and what I do or do not do isn't going to make a difference. It was freeing to realize that her addiction isn't about me. That freed me up to live my life in the best way I know how.

Good morning all - thanks for the shares and ESH above me. Thank you Lyne for your service and the daily. I came to Al-Anon as a controlling person - not aware how deeply that was true...I knew the concept of Let Go and Let God yet felt unique as my key concerns were my A sons - both underage and both deep in addiction.
Yet, over and over and over again, I was guided to Let Go and Let God. It was tough and I tried to take control back yet it did turn out to be the best thing. I also agree that practicing this concept is best defined as FREEDOM! Great comparison.
It's cold here and after a bit of rain yesterday/last evening, some of the streets are slick and there's a ton of accidents....I am so grateful I don't have to go anywhere this morning. Make it a great day all - (((Hugs))).
