Interesting Concepts: The reading for today talks about doing our part in Alanon, and not expecting HP to do what we can do for ourselves . It goes on to say that The Twelve Steps define what are our responsibilities and those we can turn over to God. It is suggested that we start each day with confidence and it is perfectly fine to expect a miracle.
Today's reminder: Today I give thanks for the guidance of my Higher Power and for the measure of common sense needed to apply this guidance to the details of my daily life.
Quote from...In All Our Affairs: No one else can define our role in the unique partnership we develop with our Higher Power.
I like this reading because it reminds me not to be completely dependent on anyone, or HP, for taking care of myself. Down to the basics of food, exercise , proper clothing, etc., to more important tasks of career paths or choosing a spouse, by using my Alanon tools and all the resources available to me, I can choose behaviors that treat me with respect and TLC. And then I can reach out to my Alanon family, sponsor, and yes, HP, for further help when needed. I feel lucky and grateful! Lyne

Good morning Lyne and thank you for your share, ESH, service and the daily. I also like this reading as it suggests for me that healthy action yields healthy outcomes. I too feel lucky and grateful as I had this a bit backwards or dysfunctional before recovery.
I assumed that others should treat me as I treat them. I assumed my values should be mirrored back on me by others. I believed we all had the same definitions of right/wrong, good/bad, etc. What recovery has taught me is 'to thine own self - be true'. I no longer need to accept guilt trips from others, I no longer need to personalize the disease in others and I am free to be who I am and who I want to be with the help and leading of my HP.
Happy Monday to one and all - make it a great day!

Good Morning Lyne Thanks for posting your thoughts on this reading. It reminded me that i will never out grow my need for alanon and that the tools that i have embraced and the principles I practice during my many years in program have indeed saved my sanity and life. I always thank HP for alanon and Alanon for my trust and belief in Alanon.
Have a great day and thanks for your continued service

Oh I love this post! In the beginning my pendulum swung far left, meaning that I needed and wanted no one to help me because I did not trust, therefore everything was in my hands, trying to control the uncontrollableâs
Then my pendulum swung far right, reading step three, and I expected my higher power to get involved in my life on the things that I needed to take care of and I would get bitter and disappointed when he she did not ride to the rescue
Now I realize that my higher power is within me. I am the captain of my ship. As far as step three goes. My take on it is just stop trying to control the uncontrollableâs, and just detach and walk away from them, and let the universe do something or not do something, but my hands are off of it because I am learning that it is folly to try to control the uncontrollableâs so I just step back and let whatever is to happen to happen. Thank you for this post and your service

For a long time, the program was my higher power and still is to a degree
That said, when I am up against something I cannot control, I just resort to the program, step back, work my program and let whatever will be, be
As far as the basics, the things that I can and should do, I do. The rest I just leave to the universe
