Todays reading centers around the idea of keep coming back. The writer mentioned that when first coming to alanon he/she was whining, complaining and stuck on why me. After some time and program work the answer came back- why not me? As I was reading this I remembered that when I first began step work and consistent correspondence with my sponsor, she asked to work on a gratitude list daily. It was so helpful to think about, write down, and affirm everything in my life for which I was grateful.
I think that we are all dealt a hand to play- we are here because of how living with alcoholism in some capacity has made our lives unmanageable. When I consider keep coming back I know that there may be aspects of a meeting or a reading that do not resonate with me but if I am open and listening I know there will always be something that does.
I appreciate the wisdom in the Thought for the Day: Healing starts when I stop asking why me?
I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

Good Morning Mary Great reminder!!! When i first entered the rooms of alanon and experienced the closing words of d "Keep Coming Back", I knew that I would, because I had received so much clarity and support in that brief meeting than I had in a lifetime of searching. I have kept coming back for over 25 years and I can honestly say that there has not been a meeting that i did not gain some tidbit of wisdom and support.
Love the quote and honesty in the concept that "Healing starts when i stop " asking "WHY me". I must admit it took many meetings, and much soul searching for me to reach the place of acceptance and stopped asking why me ' That was why I needed to keep coming back. I know I can slide right back into my defect of self pity and control without the constant support of meetings.
Thanks for your service . Have a great day.

Good morning MIP - happy Sunday to all....Thank you Mary and Betty for your shares and ESH. Thank you also Mary for your service and the daily. I love the Why Not Me idea simply because I believe my challenges are purposeful. Not always welcome but I do grow, change and learn far more when I am coming from a place of 'need' than want.
It's only through continued practice of suggestions in recovery that I can accept life on life's terms most of the time. So grateful for MIP, Al-Anon and those who came before me and were willing to share their ESH and allow me to find my way.
Off to a meeting this morning - make it a great day all!
