The reflection is about how the author finds joy in the simple things in life, even when things are difficult. Memories of simple joys are what the author returns to when they are feeling sad.
As I was reading, I reflected on my own tendency to focus on the major events, the "big things" in life, the big decisions, the big changes, the big events. Sometimes it is easy to see my higher power at work in those things, and sometimes I struggle to see any good in those larger things. This reading brought me to think about the joy and wonder that can be found by looking round me and seeing nature unfold. For example, this morning, instead of focusing on how cold it was, I could focus on the beautifully intricate designs frost makes. Frost, the stuff I have to scrape off my car windows in the morning, is beautiful in its own right and a miracle of its own. How else could so many distinctly different designs be possible?
Today, I will approach my day with a sense of childlike wonder, and enjoy the miracles that surround me.

Good Morning Skorpi Love the idea of approaching the day with "Childlike wonder" . I have found that I too have been noticing the small things in a day A Christmas light, a bird,a squirrel and appreciating them by adding them to my gratitude list for that day. I have found that by doing this I smile more often, am in the present moment and have much joy in the day. What a true gift this program truly is!!

Hi Skorpi and Betty-We were talking about this last night in our F2F meeting. How we can focus on what's wrong instead of what's right. Many members, myself included, could share about miracles that maybe no one else would understand, especially outside of program. And in my new home, there is a little chipmunk that runs across my deck. I get the biggest kick out of seeing him so close up. I think he is beautiful with the stripes. I'm so happy I'm on his busy route. I hope he will stick around. Lyne

Good afternoon all and thank you for your shares and ESH. Skorpi - thank you for the daily and your service. For me, I still consciously make an effort each morning to embrace what comes my way with grace and dignity. That's part of my prayer each morning as I can struggle with change and redirection...the first thing that changes in my attitude/outlook. Keeping life simple is such a gift that I never practiced before recovery.
Child-like wonder is even easier with the little people around! We're having movie night with popcorn tomorrow evening and I'm so looking forward to it! Frosty the Snowman - here we come!!! Make it an awesome day! Love and light to all!
