Todays reading is about turning over our will to our Higher Power, and a couple of ways we may implement doing this. One way to do this is called the God Box; a way of communicating with our HP and then literally letting go of whatever the issue is by placing a note we have written to HP about it into a box. I can understand how doing this concretely (an actual slip of paper going into a box) would help in letting go of an issue. The other technique the writer described was one on one basketball w HP. The writer described coming home and whatever he wanted to hand over to his HP he would shoot into the basketball hoop until he could let go of the issue and ultimately, the ball.
I am thinking that a great deal of my sickness is how much I can get in and stay in my head so having a tangible way to let go of that is extremely helpful. It is not quite the same but something this reading reminded me of is when my exAH makes contact with me through a call or text, it is freeing to me to delete them from my phone. I notice I dont rattle around in my brain with every syllable written or spoken and it helps me let go in this way.

Letting Go and Letting God is indeed a powerful tool I so loved the suggestion of the God box that I instantly implemented it from the beginning of this joureny.
Naturally making the decision to stop obsessing and turn it over is sometimes difficult, however the more time I have in program the easier it becomes. Once i can admit powerlessness, i am free to let go and let god

Thank you Mary for the daily and your service. Thank you both for your ESH and your shares. I too heard about the 'God Box' concept early on. I am such a stubborn gal, I did not follow the suggestion at first. I had an ongoing battle with my own ego relative to letting things go and it took me a while and some extreme circumstances for me to learn how truly powerless I am. My surrender was slow, painful yet profound as I was shown directly I truly needed a power greater than self to accept and heal from the affects of this disease.
I did finally do a God Box and it was kind of fun and freeing. When I obsessed, I would write it down and put it in there. There are repeats, which is a reminder that my will and ego are constantly present. Yet, the gentle reminder of a power greater than me does bring me peace and calm.
Happy Sunday - off to a meeting in a bit and to help my oldest move. He's decided to move into an Oxford house --- with his brother. While the two have never gotten along living together as youth or adults, I remain hopeful they can sort things out. We have a lovely day for it, and I am willing to be of service! (((Hugs)))

Thank you for your service, Mary, and the ESH above. I've made an electronic God box, but I think I might go for a real one as well, sounds like a good idea. IAH, I'm happy to hear both your sons are on a path to recovery...
