ODAT reading for November 7 speaks about the 11th step which is:"Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God. Praying only for knowledge of his will and the power to carry it out."
The reading points out that this step assures us that we can have conscious contact with our Higher Power. If we desire. We must remind ourselves each day of how much depends on our being aware of God's influence in my own life . The reading goes on to suggest that prayer is talking to God meditation is listening.
The quote which is very powerful states; God is present to all his creatures but all are not equally aware of his presence."
When I read the step. It dawned on me that all my life I had been praying for "my will," as I was always too afraid to pray for God's will, because I did not know if I have the courage to carry it out. This step assured me that if I pray for HP's will I will be given the power to carry it out, I will not fail. What an insurance. The 11th step has guided me to this entire program and I am eternally grateful.

Good morning Betty, thank you for your service.
The 11th step reminds me how important it is to dedicate time each day for prayer and meditation. In our busy, hectic world, sometimes I find myself thinking "I really don't have time for this today" and the 11th step gently reminds me that "I really don't have time NOT to do this today". The faster I run, the more things I try to cram in, the further away form what I really want and think is important I tend to get and the less able I am to respond to situations in the way I would like to.
Thank you for this reminder. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thanks for the daily Betty. It is curious to see how many people, in program and not, struggle with a complete lack of even an inkling of an HP. I am grateful I had a spiritual awakening many years ago. It has made program easier for me to depend on my HP. I talk to Him every morning and throughout the day. I have lost my regular meditation routine, but I will try to re-establish it when my life calms down, Lyne

Thank you Betty for the daily and for your service. Thanks also Skorpi and Lyne for your shares and ESH. I had my doubts when I first read this step simply based on old habits and teachings of my youth. I am grateful that each step in recovery offered me a chance to undo much of that, prosper in a healthy way and accept and enhance a spiritual existence. I am so grateful that those who came before me offered many suggestions on how to pray and meditate and gave me the freedom to find my journey to success.
Happy Tuesday to one and all.....make it a great day! It's darn cold here again - I guess I just wasn't very ready for winter this year!!! (((Hugs)))

I think your comment about "my will " is so telling. Of course everything should go on "my will" because after all I am all knowing!!!!
Living life on life's terms is certainly difficult. I no longer find it absolutely impossible.
That is great progress for me. I have my times every day when I encounter boundaries.
I would rather not be in a lot of issues that I have. At the same time I can accept them.
