Today's reading talks about times when the "poor me " mood is upon us,
we can become overwhelmed with all the troubles we have to face daily in our lives,
or when we begin to change our thinking about ourselves and our relation to others
the reading suggests there is a better way to act and be " empty our minds of all thoughts but one: TODAY and how to use it.
"today is my special gift from God" in just for today book mark quotes :I'm as happy as I make my mind up to be,,I will be happy"
this is my just for today also, helps me to live and stay in the moment,,,
have a happy, fulfilled, blessed day today (((((fellow and family alanoners ))))))))

Thank you Lookingup-Even your name reflects the spirit of today's ODAT! And it is a wonderful reminder to have gratitude for every day. I like the reminders of today and how to use it, and that today is a gift from God. I will keep these two phrases in my thoughts today and I hope everyday. Have a good one, Lyne

Good Morning Looking up I agree living just for today is a fantastic tool and one I could never have implemented without alanon tools . I was always living in the past or projecting fear to the future (POOR ME) . Being able to stay in the moment and in the day, as you and the reading suggests helps me to really appreciate my life.
Thanks for your service and have a lovely day

Thank you for today's reading. Boy oh boy, did I need this today! I have been in a "poor me" mood for a couple of months now. My mom (91) has been in and out of the hospital and she is not the most cooperative patient in the world. My brother lives out of town, so the daily running, myriad of phone calls to doctors and pharmacies and insurance, etc. etc. falls to me. To be honest I am exhausted from it.....so I am trying to keep my alanon tools sharpened because my natural instinct is to project and ruminate and worry and play out all sorts of scenarios. I have been praying to my HP and trying to catch myself when I start the "poor me" stuff. I have been trying to keep busy ( my own stuff) and trying to fit in some relaxing activities also. I am learning to draw boundaries and it all helps, but I am just tired of being "it." Poor me, right?
It helps to read our literature and come here to read others' posts to keep me in today. Today I am working to concentrate on one task at a time and interspersing with prayer to keep me guided and supported. I keep using slogans that more will be revealed and this too shall pass and keep it simple.
Thank you MIP for being here........it is one of the greatest tools!
