My parents lost their home of 41 years to the Cascade Fire in Yuba County, California. In the middle of the night on Sunday in to Monday they fled for their lives as the fire swept through their little town on 70-80 mile an hour winds. They lost everything but a tractor and a telescope. They are in their 70's and this whole ordeal is so much to handle at any age, but especially at their age. My AH and I are travelling back and forth from our home to where they are which is about 5 hours north. They have to stay up there until all the paperwork is done and decisions are made. Please pray for them. They are both hard of hearing and trying to deal with government agencies and insurance companies is overwhelming. The bright light in all of this is they are now free to move closer to us where we can help them. But first, we must wrap up things up north. The wheels of progress with insurance companies and government agencies move very slow in light of all the fires in California.
I will take some prayers for myself and my husband too. My AH and I are doing well and hanging tough, but I am trying to keep my job and take care of everyone else too. My AH is very respectful of the situation and very helpful. He has tempered his drinking to only in the evenings when we are back to our hotel room and even then only a couple of glasses of wine. I know it isn't forever, but I will take it when I can get it!
Thank you in advance for your prayers and encouragement. Knowing people are out there cheering for us is so important!
((Bethany)) I am so very sorry to read of your parent's loss and am sending prayers and positive thoughts for you and your family.

Bethany, positive thoughts going out to you and your family. I have been to Yuba County many times -- had relatives there in the past, but not now.
I love how you are seeing the bright spots in this difficult time.

Bethany yes I've been praying for your family (and all involved) even before I knew this. We're in Alameda county with one eye on the fire map, backpacks ready to go, and helping with distribution centers for people involved with the fires. How good it is you and your family can help your parents. Stay strong.
