Today's reading is about Letting Go...The writer talks about their idea to state the Serenity Prayer at the start of the meeting being voted down at a business meeting. When her idea was vetoed, she felt her offended price, and then the Al-anon suggestion about 'principles above personalities' presented in her thinking. She realized it didn't matter that her suggestion was defeated - fellowship and group harmony were more important for the group togetherness.
The writer learned how to let go of needing to have her way within the safety of her Al-Anon group. She practices using this lesson in all relationships.
Today's reminder --- It is important to express my ideas. It is also important to accept the outcome. I can acknowledge that the results of my actions are out of my hands. Today I choose to trust those results to my Higher Power.

Letting go for me was about setting aside my ego and realizing I was just another imperfection person in an imperfect world who is not always right! It was easy for me to ASSume that I was the only sane and right-minded person when I was surrounded by Alcoholism and Alcoholics - before recovery.
When I was really ready to be entirely honest, and work the steps to the best of my ability, I could see that I was in need of change. I was willing to do what was suggested to be a better version of me. Today, I can be wrong and be OK with it. Today, I can allow others to be as crazy as they need to be and I can step away to my serene place with my HP.
Letting go allows me to see that there are better ways than my way, and it's a game changer for growth! Happy Thursday to one and all - off to golf in a while and company coming tonight....make it a great day!

I have to remind myself that when I LET GO, the results are better than if I stuck my 2 cents in every 2 seconds and tried to steer things the way I think they should be. I am really trying to let outcomes just flow without my interference. Why am I usually surprised when they turn out well or OK or better!? Well, it is starting to sink in, because more and more I sit back after doing what I think is the next right step and just let it happen.
Have a wonderful Thursday. Yesterday we broke the standing record at 91 degrees and currently it is 61 degrees.

Hey Ellen - glad you've got some cooler weather today! We had way higher than normal temperatures all last week and are gifted with cooler this week! Crazy weather year - grateful we're a bit more normal now, just for today! (((Hugs)))

Hi IAH Great share and reading. I know that I can so identify because I learned how to use all the alanon tools by using them first in alanon meetings. Letting go of wanting my way, not judging, blaming or gossiping all added to the principles I found so beneficial. Thanks for your service.

Letting go of control is a hard lesson for me, especially when I Really care about something or someone. Placing principles over personalities, asking myself "does this belong to me?" and focusing on the underlying goals helps me to keep things in their proper place and perspective, usually outside of my control.
