"All anger, all acting out, all harshness, all criticism, is in truth a form of suffering." This really hit him me for me today and thought I'd share. The whole article can be found here:
Sometimes I need to hear something a thousand times & a thousand ways before I get it, and then I have to relearn it again.
Have a great day everyone! To those in the path of Irma, praying for your safety.

Hi Beth-I think in Alanon we say, Keep coming back, for exactly the reason you stated-we need to hear some things many, many times, before we can take it in, and then actually act on it.
What I know about anger and hurting others, is that it hurts the one holding it, and projecting it. It's as though it binds us to the pain. By letting go and letting God, turning it over, live and let live, I find it frees myself to be a kinder, more mature person, without anger and blame, etc. And without all those negative emotions, I can feel so much better, and I do! I haven't forgotten the pain others have given me, but I no longer dwell on it, obsess over it, and I feel better than I have in my whole life. So you know what? Keep coming back, Lyne

I love this!
Another thing I heard, that's similar to this, is "Anger is pain's bodyguard". My therapist explained this in that anger is a secondary emotion - it always comes after a primary emotion, like pain or fear.
Thanks for putting this up here - I've just added it to the things I need to hear over and over again, too. :)
