Yes...I am likely about to get slammed with a hurricane. Evacuating with 7 pets and a job where I am responsible for protecting others was not gonna happen. I have been sober 9 years. Last bad hit here was 2005 so I was WASTED through all of it. I hurt myself stumbling around in the dark. I let branches and trees fall on my car and didn't care. I will be sober for this. It is annoying that what feels like EVERYONE else is saying what a necessity it is to stock up on alcohol. Getting trashed in a natural disaster solves what? I know I did it because I was a drunk...period. i will check in with you guys. Not gonna really hit til Saturday.

9 years on Oct. 1. Facebook is messing me in terms of people panicking. There is a line there between panic and reasonable precaution. I hope I'm on the right side. I dunno. Bleh. We are 1 block in from mandatory evacuation zone.

Be safe, it has to be so hard for people that have pets. Nine years is great, good for you!

(((pinkchip))) - way to go with your (almost) 9 years!! I hope you all stay safe and dry. My brother and 2 cousins live in the Houston area and two of the three were spared. I do believe I would vacate given the choice - better safe than sorry....
Sending prayers of safety to you and yours (including the pets)...touch base when you can!

Just a minute ago I thought, "Oh no, Mark is in Florida!" I know other people who are hunkering down in good strong houses and I trust yours is one of those. You have a good strong house in your own recovery too. Hang in there. Hope to hear from you once the storm passes and the power is back on.

It is trending west. Does not look like Fort Lauderdale will get the worst. Pray for Tampa/Gulf Coast.

Well...power is gone. It is hitting pretty hard now...crazy. I can only imagine if this was a direct hit. Fighting urges to emotionally eat and stuff my face. Pets have varying responses to this. One dog seems to like it...others ate scaredy dogs/cats. Our birds don't seem to care. Howling winds....

I made it. It is over here. Some damage but not catastrophic. Gazebos wrecked. Part of roof wrecked. Big palm tree laying in yard. That was an INSANELY large hurricane! Pummeled for over 24 hours! Usually passes in 3 or 4 hours.
