I can easily relate to this reading. I was so used to feeling miserable and out of control, that it actually felt strange to start feeling good. And there was a reluctance to "adjust" to peace because in early program, I was just waiting for the bad news to come back. And who wants to feel good to only have the let down once again.
But now with several years under my belt, I have learned that when the problems come, I have tools to deal with them. I may get knocked off course, but I am able to recover faster and with less damage done to me. I trust that however badly I feel, I am going to feel better again. So yes, these are truly gifts of the program, Lyne

Hello Lyne Great reminder. Serenity can be ours regardless of the challenges and difficulties that we must face. The Alanon tools of detachment, prayer letting go and letting God,with acceptance all helped me in my recovery journey. Serenity is a gift and I embraced it with much pleasure. I can still feel anger, and sadness and still be serene at the same time

Good morning Lyne and Betty! Thank you for your shares. Lyne - thank you for your service and the daily. The key word of the day - Serenity. Before recovery, I could define it but don't know that I ever really felt it or had it. In recovery, it's one of my top goals each day - and will do all that I can to protect it.
Accepting what is instead of wanted what is not is a simple way for me to get there. I still at times want what I want when I want it, yet the program helps me to redirect to acceptance. Thank goodness for the reveal provided by this program and the steps - I would have continued down the path of crazy-train living, thinking, etc.
