Today's reading really struck me it's a constant lesson for me in terms of loving and accepting people where they are at .. I think I have a different spin, .. unconditional love is over rated .. unconditional acceptance .. that's where real freedom is in a relationship be it friendship or love, the real freedom to be who you are invites unconditional love .. accepting someone where they are at this includes myself is HUGE for self healing and growth. I get what I give. Accepting people where they are at frees me to be less critical, less judgmental and much more tolerant. I know the difference when I am not. At work we all share an office with an office mate .. and it is important that we work together in terms of tolerate our quirks. There are some days that are better than others, I enjoy her a great deal. She reminds me of lessons that I am still working on accepting her is a reflection of me. I know the God of my understanding seeks to be a constant reminder of change.
Pre Alanon I was not accepting of others because I had zero tolerance or acceptance of myself. I wasn't good enough (you can fill in the blank with that statement). I can see where that lead me to struggle with different things throughout my life. Before my X and I split my children will tell you NO ONE came around. I was an absolutely miserable person. I had no social skills and I was not interested .. it was to painful. I had no idea who I was and I just straight up did not like myself.
Alanon helped me remember who I was and that the painting of my life was not done or even close to being done. Acceptance of self and learning to be forgiving of me truly is where I made large changes in my own life. Accepting the good of life and what it has to offer, being open to the possibility of good in the world makes life a whole lot easier.
My perceptions of specific situations are entirely made up of my choices. My perceptions of my day are entirely my responsibility and my ability to accept as well as see the good around me.

Hi Serenity Thank you for sharing your thoughts on today's reading. I agree learning how to develop unconditional acceptance was certainly the key to leading a constructive joyful non judgmental life. Thank you alanon and thank you Serenity for your service.

Thank you Serenity for the daily and your service. Thanks to all for your shares above me...I have had to learn that my 'daygos' are my responsibility and how I 'see them' is often based on my spiritual condition. When I can just be present and just be a part of, things go pretty well. When I am discontent or left of center, that's when I see my days as more slanted towards the negative.
I too am grateful the program has given me the tools to see what's up with me when 'life' happens. I watched Joel Osteen today and it was about having faith 'in the middle of life'. It's easy to have faith when we are just beginning and it's easy to have peace when we're about the depart this world. It's in the middle, when our path takes turns, has hills and valleys when faith is more challenged. It was spot on for me, just for today.
